EASTON, Mass. (September 21, 2009) - Three members of the Stonehill College field hockey team, ranked 5th in the most recent Kookaburra/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II poll, earned weekly honors from the Northeast-10 Conference on Monday.

Senior forward Claire Hourihan (East Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville North) was named the NE-10's Player of the Week, while junior Courtney Osier (South Dennis, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth) was tabbed Goalkeeper of the Week and senior Ashley March (Schwenksville, Pa./Spring-Ford) was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week.

Hourihan

Hourihan earns Player of the Week honors for the first time this season (second career) after compiling six goals and an assist for 13 points in the Skyhawks 2-0 week. She netted a hat trick and had the game-winning tally in both wins. Hourihan scored three goals in Wednesday's 4-1 victory over Southern Connecticut State University, and then posted three goals and an assist in Saturday's 6-0 triumph over Saint Michael's College.

Hourihan has taken over the team lead with 19 points and nine goals, adding an assist through nine games this season. She is ranked first in the NE-10 in goals and game-winning markers (4) and is third in points. Hourihan is now within four goals of Aly Boulis for second place on Stonehill's all-time list with 38 over her career. Hourihan's 93 career points are just two shy of Boulis for second on the Skyhawks all-time scoring list.

Osier

Osier earns Goalkeeper of the Week honors for the second time this season after posting over 132 scoreless minutes in the Stonehill net last week. She didn't concede a goal over the two wins, averaging two saves per game with one shutout. Osier made two saves in Saturday's shutout victory over Saint Michael's after stopping both shots on goal she faced in 62:02 of Wednesday's 4-1 win over Southern Connecticut State.

Osier, who has allowed just two goals over her last 428:04 of play (0.33 GAA), leads the NE-10 with her 0.96 goals against average and three shutouts, while also ranking second with a .771 save percentage in nine games this season.

March

March earns Defensive Player of the Week honors for the first time after teammate Stephanie Kott (Rutland, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) collected the award the two previous weeks. March led a Stonehill defense which yielded just one goal and 4.5 shots per game over two wins. The defense allowed five shots (two on goal) in Saturday's shutout win against Saint Michael's after yielding five shots (three on goal) in Wednesday's victory over Southern Connecticut State.

March has started all nine games for Stonehill this season and has been a key member of a defensive unit which leads the NE-10 with a 1.19 team goals against average and ranks second with three shutouts.

Stonehill (7-2, 1-0 NE-10), winners of seven-straight, is back in action tomorrow night when it hosts 8th-ranked Bentley University at 7 p.m.
