Satkowski Earns All-New England Honors from New England Football Writers

Southbury, Connecticut, postgrad lineman earns honors for first time as Skyhawks second Division I All-New England selection

EASTON, Mass. (November 27, 2023) – Stonehill College postgraduate offensive lineman David Satkowski has been selected to the New England Football Writers' Division I New England All-Star Team, the organization announced. The Skyhawks captain is among 37 All-Star selections representing all 16 NCAA Division I colleges and universities that sponsor football in New England at the FBS and FCS levels.

Satkowski earns All-New England honors for the first time in his career and is Stonehill's second honoree at the NCAA I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) level, joining former offensive line teammate and current offensive quality control coach Joe Bastante, '22 in earning the recognition at the Division I level. Satkowski is the program's 13th selection overall since 2010. The New England Football Writers Division I All-Star team represents programs from the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Big South Conference, the Colonial Athletic Association, the Ivy League, the Northeast Conference, and the Patriot League. Additionally, players were chosen from independents UConn and UMass.

The team will be honored at the New England Football Writers Captains and Awards Banquet on Thursday, December 7, at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel and Conference Center. Satkowski, a two-time All-Northeast Conference first team selection, is one of five All-New England honorees from the NEC. A three-year starter on the offensive line for Stonehill, he started 30 of the 31 games he played, including each of the last 29 games and all ten games at center this fall after moving from right tackle. The Skyhawks captain spearheaded an offensive line that paved the way for the No. 2-ranked rusher in the NEC in senior Jermaine Corbett, a fellow two-time All-NEC first team honoree and three-time NEC Offensive Player of the Week this fall, with 111.9 yards per game and nine touchdowns. The Skyhawks averaged 322.7 yards per game (4th), including 166.8 per game on the ground, while finishing tied for second in the NEC for fewest sacks allowed with 15. Stonehill's 18.8 first downs per game leads the NEC, while ranking second on third down conversion (37.8%) and red zone offense (87.5% - 28-for-32).

A finalist for the FedEx Ground Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award, Satkowski was preseason All-NEC pick this summer by the Conference's head coaches as well as The Bluebloods and Phil Steele and was named to the preseason All-New England by the New England Football Journal. He was named a Campbell Trophy® semifinalist by the National Football Foundation (NFF) for the second-straight year this fall – the program's first two-time honoree. He graduated in May with a Bachelor's Degree as a secondary education and history dual major and returned to the Skyhawks in 2023 to pursue his Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Education Graduate Certification. He attended the 2023 NFF Campbell Trophy® Summit for the first time and was named to the Hampshire Honor Society by the Football Foundation last spring.

Satkowski has received a Presidential Merit Scholarship at the College and been named to the Dean's List all eight semesters for having a grade point average of 3.50 or better. He was a 2023 NEC Male Student-Athlete of the Year candidate and received the Walter A. Devine Award as the top Secondary Education student at Stonehill in the spring. Satkowski earned Academic All-District honors from College Sports Communicators (CSC) and received the Saint Thomas Aquinas, Patron Saint of Students, Medal for having the highest cumulative GPA on the football team. He was named to the NEC Academic Honor Roll as well as the Commissioner's Honor Roll with a GPA over 3.75, having been named to the Northeast-10 Conference Academic Honor Roll six semesters, with Academic Distinction status four semesters for having a GPA between 3.50 and 3.99 and Academic Excellence status once for having a perfect 4.0 semester GPA prior to the program's transition to NCAA FCS. He has been named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll all eight semesters for having a GPA of 3.20 or higher.

Satkowski has volunteered at the Stoughton (Mass.) Homework Center facilitating small group tutoring sessions for grades 7-12. He completed his student-teaching practicum at Stoughton (Mass.) High School where he fostered an inclusive learning environment, created adapted materials to assist all at risk student populations, including English Language Learners and students with ADHD. Prior to that he was an assistant teacher at Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School, where he corresponded with the host teacher to assist ELL students and students with Individualized Education Programs.

Stonehill capped its second NCAA I FCS season with a 5-5 record overall, including 4-3 in the NEC, winning its last two games and three of its last four to finish in the tie for second in the regular season standings. Satkowski was among a program-best five All-NEC selections by the Conferences coaches this fall.
