Schneider Named NCBWA East Region Hitter Of The Week

Schneider collects his third award of the week

EASTON, Mass. (March 17, 2016) – Senior Eric Schneider (Camarillo, California/St. Bonaventure) of the Stonehill College baseball team was chosen as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) East Region Hitter of the Week for the period ending March 13th, it was announced Wednesday afternoon.

Schneider earns his third award of the week, having previously been named the NE-10 Player of the Week and the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) Player of the Week. The Camarillo, California native led Stonehill to a perfect 7-0 run from March 7th through March 13th, behind a red-hot week at the plate. Schneider hit .500 (13-for-26) with eight RBI, 12 runs scored and four stolen bases in seven wins down south. The senior outfielder posted a .581 on-base percentage and .731 slugging percentage and hit safely in all seven games, posting a multi-hit effort and scoring multiple runs in every game but two.

Schneider opened the week going 2-for-4 with a walk and a run in a 7-3 win over Wilmington University, and followed up that performance finishing 2-for-3 with two runs and two stolen bases in a 5-2 win over Bloomfield. In back-to-back wins over Concordia College and NE-10 foe Assumption College, Schneider combined to go 5-for-8 with four runs, four RBI and a homerun.

Stonehill (10-5, 0-0 NE-10), ranked ninth in this week's National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association East Region Poll that was released Monday, will travel to Molloy College for a weekend series against the Lions. First game is set for Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
