Stonehill Receiving Votes in Collegiate Baseball News DII Preseason Coaches Poll

Skyhawks scheduled to open season February 20th against Felician College in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

EASTON, Mass. (December 30, 2013) – The Stonehill College baseball team is among teams receiving votes in the Collegiate Baseball News Division II Preseason Coaches poll, which was released on December 24th.

Last season, Stonehill finished with an overall record of 23-22, including an 11-16 mark in the Northeast-10 Conference. The 2013 campaign marked the sixth consecutive season, and 15th time in 16 seasons under head coach Pat Boen that the Skyhawks have posted a record above .500.

Four members of Stonehill's squad earned NE-10 All-Conference honors last season. Senior outfielder James DeAlto (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y./Briarcliff), sophomore pitcher Jim Duff (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City), and freshman utility man Brian Campbell (Franklin, Mass./Mount Saint Charles) were named to the All-Conference Third Team, while Campbell and classmate Chris Hoyt (Walpole, Mass./Xaverian Brothers) earned All-Rookie accolades.

Campbell led Stonehill last season with .347 batting average, and Duff ranked second on the team with a 2.63 earned run average while pitching a team-high 78.2 innings.

The Skyhawks are scheduled to open their 2014 campaign on Thursday, February 20th against Felician College in the Ripken Experience Northeast Challenge in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Stonehill is slated to play its first home contest on Wednesday, March 19th against Northeast-10 rival Assumption College at Lou Gorman Field in Easton, Mass.
