Pawtucket, Rhode Island native hit .438 with four doubles and four runs
EASTON, Mass. (May 12, 2014) – Stonehill College senior outfielder Billy Karalis (Pawtucket, Rhode Island/Bishop Feehan) has been named to the 2014 Northeast-10 Conference All-Championship Team, it was announced yesterday by the league office.
Karalis hit .438 (7-for-16) with three walks, four doubles, and four runs in four Championship contests last week. He also slugged .688 and got on base at a .526 clip as Stonehill advanced past the first round for the first time since 2010.
The third-seeded Skyhawks defeated second-seeded Franklin Pierce University on Wednesday afternoon, 11-4, to advance to the weekend double elimination bracket. Stonehill then topped Adelphi University, 3-1, on Friday, before having its run ended with consecutive losses to the Penmen and Panthers on Saturday.

Karalis went 1-for-5 with a run in Stonehill's first round win at Franklin Pierce, before following that up with a 1-for-3 showing with a walk and a run in the Skyhawks' triumph over Adelphi on Friday. He posted his best offensive effort of the Championship in Saturday's loss to Southern New Hampshire, as the senior went 3-for-4 at the plate with three doubles, two runs, and a walk. His leadoff double in the eighth inning started a rally that allowed the Skyhawks to score twice and pull to within one run. Karalis wrapped up his All-Championship performance on Saturday evening with a 2-for-4 effort as Adelphi eliminated Stonehill by a 7-2 score.
The senior captain was also honored by the NE-10 with an All-Conference second team selection at the conclusion of the regular season. Karalis was a key offensive piece for Stonehill, as he provided power and plate discipline out of the leadoff spot. He belted a career-high seven homers, to go with eight doubles, a triple, and 24 RBI. He also scored 33 runs, drew a team-best 29 walks, and stole 17 bases while slugging .422. In Stonehill's 6-5 win at Assumption College on April 2nd, Karalis went 3-for-5 with a double and two home runs to lead the Skyhawks to a Northeast Division victory. He also collected All-Conference third team accolades in 2012 after hitting .285 with 12 doubles, 33 runs, and 35 RBI.
Karalis appeared in 166 contests over the course of his Stonehill career, making 159 starts as both an outfielder and a catcher. He posted a career .267 batting average with 37 doubles, nine triples, ten home runs, and 94 RBI, while drawing 89 walks, scoring 107 runs, and stealing 33 bases. In the classroom, Karalis has been named to the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll all seven semesters and to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll on five occasions.
Stonehill (30-20, 17-10 NE-10) finished third in the NE-10 Northeast Division after going 13-8 in divisional play during the regular season. The Skyhawks reached the 30-win mark for the fourth time in five years, and earned a berth in the NE-10 Championship for the 13th time in head coach Pat Boen's 17-year tenure.
