EASTON, Mass. (April 21, 2014) – Junior Christian Baglini (Milford, Conn./Notre Dame High) went 3-for-4 at the plate with a triple, two runs, and two RBI to lead Stonehill College to an 8-2 victory over Saint Michael's College this afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference Northeast Division baseball action at Lou Gorman Field.

Baglini, classmate Eric Schneider (Camarillo, Calif./St. Bonaventure), and sophomore Brian Hocking (Duxbury, Mass./BC High) combined to knock in seven of Stonehill's eight runs. Schneider went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI, while Hocking was 1-for-3 with a two-run homer. Sophomore Brian Campbell (Franklin, Mass./Mount Saint Charles) chipped in with a hit, two runs, and a walk.

Sophomore John Hauck (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn-Trafford) improved to 3-2 with the win after going 5.1 innings and allowing two runs on four hits while striking out four and walking two. Classmate Mike Krupczak (Springfield, Mass./Cathedral) and junior Ryan Rougeot (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire) held the Purple Knights hitless over the final 3.2 frames, as Krupczak went 2.2 innings allowing just a walk before Rougeot tossed a perfect ninth.

Saint Michael's was led by seniors Alec Tice (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) and Nick Nelson (Spofford, N.H./Keene). Tice, who recently became the Purple Knights' all-time hits leader, went 1-for-4 with a double and one RBI, while Nelson was 1-for-3 with a solo home run.

Junior Will Corkum (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich) took the loss for Saint Michael's after going 5.1 innings and allowing six runs (four earned) on eight hits to go with two strikeouts and two walks.

After two scoreless frames, the Purple Knights put a run on the board in the top of the third, as Nelson homered to left center field with one out in the inning.

Freshman Eddie Bowler (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) led off the bottom of the third with a walk, and Hocking gave the Skyhawks the lead on the next play as he crushed a towering, two-run homer to left center. Senior Billy Karalis (Pawtucket, R.I./Bishop Feehan) followed with a walk, and advanced to third as the next two batters grounded out. Baglini wrapped up the scoring in the inning with an RBI single through the left side, scoring Karalis from third to give Stonehill a 3-1 lead.

Still trailing 3-1 in the top of the sixth, Saint Michael's cut Stonehill's lead to one as sophomore Matt Feeney (Portsmouth, N.H./Portsmouth) walked with one out before Tice drove him in with a double to right center.

Stonehill posted its second three-run frame of the contest in the bottom of the sixth to go up 6-2. Campbell led off the inning by reaching on an error, and Baglini followed with a single. Schneider came up next and plated both runners with a double that bounced off the left field fence, before eventually coming around to score on a wild pitch.

The Skyhawks scored two more times in the seventh, as Baglini drove in a run with a triple to left center before scoring on a sacrifice fly by Schneider.
