Stonehill's All-Time Academic All-District Selections

EASTON, Mass. (July 29, 2021) – Four members of the Stonehill College men's cross country and track & field program have earned spots on the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® First Team, as selected by CoSIDA members in Division II from the East Region.

Recent graduate Ethan Famiano and junior distance runner Nickolas McNamee have both earned CoSIDA Academic All-District® first team honors for the second-straight year, while graduate Michel-Ange Siaba and junior Shane Braz collect Academic All-District® honors for the first time. The quartet, combined with Stonehill's four women's cross country/track & field Academic All-District® selections, give the Skyhawks a Northeast-10 Conference-leading eight combined honorees overall. The four men's selections are one shy of the program best of five set in 2014 and a total of 31 Academic All-District® honorees all-time. The group are now eligible for Academic All-America® selection, as voted by CoSIDA members.

Famiano, who graduated in May with a 3.63 cumulative grade point average as an elementary education and philosophy double major, earns CoSIDA Academic All-District® honors for the second-straight year after also earning NE10 Academic All-Conference honors for the outdoor track & field season this spring. He has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll each semester at the College.

Famiano is a two-time U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-East Region performer for the 60-meter high hurdles over his career. He earned All-NE10 third team and All-New England honors for the 110-meter high hurdles in 2019. This spring he turned in a pair of first place finishes in the 110-meter hurdles at the Merrimack College Carnival (15.29-seconds) and Bentley University Dual Meet (15.53), while finishing second (15.11) in the Holy Cross Dual. Famiano also turned in a fifth-place finish in the 110m hurdles at the NE10 Championships (15.41) this spring.

McNamee, who has earned a 3.80 cumulative GPA as a history major at Stonehill, earns CoSIDA Academic All-District® honors for the second-straight year as well. He is a two-time NE10 Academic All-Conference selection, earning the honors for both cross country and indoor track & field during his sophomore season, while also collecting All-Academic honors from the USTFCCCA twice as well. McNamee received the St. Thomas Aquinas, Patron Saint of Students, Medal for the second time this spring, for having the highest cumulative grade point average on the men's cross country team and has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll, receiving Academic Distinction status all six semesters for having a GPA between 3.50 and 3.99, while being named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll all six semesters as well.

McNamee is a five-time USTFCCCA All-East Region performer, earning the honors with his eighth-place finish at the 2019 NCAA Division II Cross Country East Regional (32:09 – 10K) and for the one mile run during the 2019-20 indoor track & field season when he posted a personal-best time of 4:12.21 at the Boston University Last Chance Qualifier. He is a six-time All-NE10 and three-time All-New England performer over the course of his career as well.

Siaba, the 2021 NE10 Man of the Year and Stonehill's Fr. William Gartland, CSC, Senior Male Student-Athlete Award recipient, graduated Magna Cum Laude in May with 3.86 cumulative GPA and bachelor's degree as a criminology major. He earns CoSIDA Academic All-District® honors for the first time after earning the NE10 Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award for the 2021 Outdoor Track & Field season and collecting NE10 Academic All-Conference honors as well. Siaba was a 2021 Fulbright Scholarship semifinalist, Presidential Merit Scholarship recipient and has been inducted to the Edwin H. Sutherland Criminology Honor Society. He has been named to the Dean's List every semester enrolled at the College, also earning NE10 Academic Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll status each semester since transferring to Stonehill from Humboldt State University in 2019.


McNamee is also a two-time Academic All-District® selection for the Skyhawks

Siaba made an immediate impact over his two years at Stonehill, earning four USTFCCCA All-East Region awards. He added the honor in the long jump this spring to honors for the long jump, triple jump and heptathlon during the 2019-20 indoor season, earning All-New England honors for the first time with his eighth-place finish in the long jump at the 2021 New England Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The Most Outstanding Field Athlete at the 2020 Northeast-10 Indoor Track & Field Championships, Siaba picked up three All-Conference performances at the event. He earned All-NE10 second team honors for the long jump and triple jump, finishing third in both events with distances of a school-record 23-feet, 1.75-inches and 46-feet 6.75-inches, respectively. Siaba was a third team All-NE10 performer in the heptathlon, posting a school-record 4,666 points for his third-place finish for that event.

Braz, who has earned a 3.53 cumulative GPA as a secondary education and English double major at Stonehill, earns CoSIDA Academic All-District® honors for the first time. The Dean's List student has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll all six semesters, earning Academic Excellence status this spring for having a perfect 4.0 semester GPA, while also being named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll six semesters.

Braz recorded a pair of top five finishes during the 2021 Outdoor Track & Field season, while finishing sixth in the 10,000-meter run at the NE10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships in 32:19. The 2019 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships participant earned All-NE10 honors for cross country with his 16th place finish at the 2019 NE10 Championships (27:57.1 - 8K) and then finished 24th at the NCAA II East Regional (32:32.6 - 10K) to earn USTFCCCA All-Region honors at the NCAA Regional Championship meet.
