Men's Track & Field Finishes Seventh at NE10 Outdoor Championships

Germanna leads Skyhawks with All-NE10 honors in long jump

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 7, 2021) – Stonehill College freshman Jayden Germana led the way on day two of the 2021 Northeast-10 Conference Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by American International College, at John G. Hoyt Track & Field Complex this afternoon.           

Highlights

  • Germana posted his All-NE10 finish with his third-place distance in the long jump, clearing 21-feet, 11.5-inches. Sophomore Cameron Bernard scored four points for the Skyhawks with his fifth-place finish after clearing 21-feet, 11-inches, while junior Michel-Ange Siaba scored for the Skyhawks with a distance of 21-07.25.
  • Germana just missed out on qualifying for the 100-meter dash final, placing tenth out of 23 entries in 11.18-seconds.
  • Germana anchored Stonehill's 4x100-meter relay that finished sixth in 43.44-seconds. Sophomore Nate Skopas ran the lead leg, followed by freshman Joseph Cappelletti and then freshman John Paulhamus, before Germanna ran the anchor leg.
  • Paulhamus and Cappelletti also ran on Stonehill's 4x400-meter relay that finished eighth in 3:35.94. Junior Jack Bowers ran the lead leg, followed by Paulhamus and then sophomore Sam Anderson, before Cappalletti ran the anchor leg.
  • Anderson also scored a point for Stonehill with an eighth-place finish in the triple jump, clearing a distance of 41-feet, 11.50-inches.

    Senior Ethan Famiano finished fifth in the 110-meter high hurdles, scoring four points, with his time of 15.41 seconds, after qualifying fifth in the prelims in 15.42. Sophomore Jake Dwyer just missed the final, finishing ninth in the prelims in a season-best 15.87-seconds.
  • Freshman Nick Capalbo scored for Stonehill in the 800-meter run, finishing fifth out of 19 competitors in a season-best time of 1:57.37.
  • Freshman Ian Cann posted a sixth-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase in 10:18.11.
  • Freshman Cody DeAngelo placed sixth in the pole vault, clearing a season-best height of 13-feet, 1.5-inches.
  • Freshman Aidan Byrne finished in a scoring position with his eighth place finish in the 5000-meter run in 15:42.08, while sophomore Reilly Johnston finished ninth in the field of 26 in a season-best 15:48.59, while freshman Patrick Garratt placed 16th in a season-best 16:10.21.
  • Stonehill finished the two-day championship seventh in the team standings with 38 points. Southern Connecticut State University captured its fourth-straight NE10 Outdoor Championship and 17th in program history overall with 301.5 points, with host American International second (176 points) and the University of New Haven (105) rounding out the top three.

  • Freshman Connor Hughes finished ninth out of 21 entries in the 1500-meter run with a season-best time of 4:08.23. Junior Nickolas McNamee placed 15th in 4:15.29, while sophomore Andrew Janus was 17th in a season-low 4:15.57.
  • Capalbo, McNamee, Janus and Hughes were all part of Stonehill's 4x800-meter relay that finished sixth in 8:18.63. Capalbo ran the lead leg, followed by McNamee and then Janus, with Hughes running the anchor leg.
  • Junior Jack Bowers placed tenth in the 400-meter hurdles in 59.69-seconds.
  • Freshman John Paulhamus finished 16th out of 24 entries in the 200-meter dash in 23.48-seconds.

Stonehill qualifiers for the 2021 New England Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be back in action at the event next Friday and Saturday, May 14-15, at Veterans Stadium in New Britain, Connecticut.
