Men's Track & Field Posts Five Event Wins in Holy Cross Dual Meet

Germanna, Paulhamus and Skopas all score in three events for Skyhawks

EASTON, Mass. (April 18, 2021) – Stonehill College posted five event wins as it hosted College of the Holy Cross for a dual meet at W.B. Mason Stadium today. 

Highlights 

  • Freshman Jayden Germana led a sweep of the top three scoring positions in the 100-meter dash for Stonehill, finishing in a season-best 11.06-seconds. Classmate John Paulhamus took second in 11.46-seconds, followed by sophomore Nate Skopas in third in 11.82-seconds. Sophomore Sam Anderson finished fourth for the Skyhawks in 11.95-seconds.
  • Paulhamus led the way in the 200-meter dash in 23.27-seconds, with Skopas taking third in a season-best 24.21-seconds to score a point for Stonehill.
  • Germanna, Paulhamus and Skopas were also part of Stonehill's 4x100-meter relay that won head-to-head with the relay team from Holy Cross. The Skyhawks finished in 44.36-second, while Holy Cross finished in 45.37. Skopas ran the lead leg, followed by freshman Joseph Cappelletti and Paulhamus, before Germanna finished the anchor leg.
  • Germanna also turned in a runner-up finish in the long jump, clearing a season-best distance of 22-feet, 2-inches on his sixth and final attempt. Senior Michel-Ange Siaba finished third with a distance of 21-feet, 11-inches, with sophomore Cameron Bernard fourth at 21-10.75.

    Siaba was also second in the triple jump with his distance of 43-feet, 2.5-inches.
  • Junior Nickolas McNamee led five Stonehill runners in the top six of the 1500-meter run with his second-straight first place finish in the event in as many weeks, finishing in 4:12.63. Freshman Ian Cann scored for the Skyhawks with his third place finish in 4:18.50, while classmate Aidan Byrne was fourth in 4:20.15 and sophomore Andrew Janus finished fifth in a season-best 4:21.20. Junior Shan Braz capped the five Skyhawks in sixth in the field of 12 competitors overall, in 4:23.46.
  • Sophomore Tyler Thomas scored first place points for Stonehill in the discus throw with a season-best distance of 114-feet, 5-inches. He was also second in the shot put with a season-best distance of 39-feet, 11.5-inches, and third in the hammer throw, clearing 103-feet, 1-inch. Junior Robert Lisi also scored for the Skyhawks in the shot put with his throw of 38-3.5 finishing third, while finishing second in the hammer at 134-feet, 2-inches.
  • Holy Cross won the head-to-head duel with 87 points, with Stonehill scoring 64 in the 18 events today. The Skyhawks finished with five event wins and 21 top three finishes overall.

  • Freshmen Nick Capalbo and Connor Hughes finished second and third, respectively, to score points for Stonehill in the 800-meter run. Capalbo finished in a season-best 1:58.55, while Hughes clocked in at 2:00.67.

    Senior Ethan Famiano and sophomore Jake Dwyer finished second and third for Stonehill in the 110-meter high hurdles. Famiano posted a season-best time of 15.11-seconds, while Dwyer finished in a season-best 15.66.
  • Sophomore Reilly Johnston scored two points for Stonehill with a second place finish in the 5000-meter run in 16:12.88.
  • Sophomore Daniel Bennett placed second in the javelin throw with a distance of 141-feet, 1-inch.
  • Junior Jack Bowers finished third in the 400-meter hurdles in a season-best 58.90-seconds.
  • Cappelletti finished fourth in the 400-meter dash in 56.99-seconds.
  • Freshman Cody DeAngelo finished second in the pole vault, clearing a height of 12-feet, 3.5-inches.
