EASTON, Mass. (May 23, 2023)- Three members from the Stonehill College men's ice hockey team were named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Team. John DayNolan FitzPatrick, and John Peloso all garnered the honor for the first time in their respective careers. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second, and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 21.

Off the ice, Day has been named to the Dean's List multiple times, was a member of the NE10 Academic Honor Roll, and earned a spot on the Northeast Conference (NEC) Winter Academic Honor Roll. Day also serves as a fellow for Team Impact and has helped organize many of the college's Team Impact signings. 

Day finishes his career with the Skyhawks appearing in 31 games and started in 28 and logged 1660:48 of action. He has made 846 saves in his time with the Purple and White while posting a save percentage of .897. He recently set a new career-high saves last weekend against Lindenwood University when he made 45 stops (Feb. 11).

FitzPatrick had a career year for Stonehill as the sophomore set new career highs in goals (six) and assists (12) for 18 points on the year. Overall on the year, FitzPatrick posted four games with two points and in those games, the Skyhawks were 3-1. For his career, FitzPatrick has tallied nine goals and 11 assists for 20 points. Just like Day, FitzPatrick also was named to the NEC Winter Academic Honor Roll and NE10 Academic Honor Roll. 

Finally, Peloso has also been named to the Dean's List, was on the NEC Winter Academic Honor Roll, and earned a spot on the NE10 Academic Honor Roll in his career. On the ice, Peloso has played in 71 games for his Stonehill career and scored 24 goals and posted 24 assists, and is overall a plus 14 when out on the ice. He has had five multi-goal games in his career which included a two-goal performance versus Westfield State (Nov. 22).

Stonehill finished its season with an impressive 17-6-2 record which included a 12-game unbeaten streak in the beginning part of the year. Stonehill's 17 wins marked a new program record which topped the previous record of 16 from the 2013-14 team.
