The Details

  • With just under 15 minutes left in the opening period (13:34), Stonehill struck first when Tripp pushed hard down the left side and as he got near the Mustangs net, he found Pick skating down the middle and after Pick's initial shot was stopped by Creenan, he put back his miss for his first collegiate goal. However, a few minutes later (10:06), SUNY Morrisville evened the game at one off the stick of Jones.
  • Less than a minute into the second (19:47), the Skyhawks capitalized on a powerplay opportunity after Schwenninger found an open Pineo next to Creenan's glove side who snuck the puck past the out-of-position netminder. Despite recapturing the lead, SUNY Morrisville tied things back at two when Carlile beat Day and then shortly after, the Mustangs grabbed their first lead courtesy of Neumann.
  • Both sides continued to battle for the remainder of the period and with 40 seconds left in the period, the Purple and White knotted the game at three after Nehmer took it upon himself for his fourth goal on the year.
  • The Skyhawks continued their momentum into the third frame as Cady potted the game-winning goal just 05:28 into the third (15:32). Pineo grabbed a loose puck up the left boards and skated up the ice and while the defense was focused on him, Pineo found an open Cady who skated down the right side and put home the shot past a sprawled out Neumann.
  • From there, the Stonehill defense and Day kept the Mustangs at bay as the senior goalie stopped all 11 shots that came his way as he ended the night with 34 saves.
