#8 Field Hockey Survives in Shootout Against New Haven, 2-1

EASTON, Mass. (October 20, 2021) - Stonehill College, ranked No. 8 in this week's Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II poll, erased a halftime deficit and then went on to record a 2-1 shootout victory over the University of New Haven in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey action on Timothy J. Coughlin, '80 Memorial Field at W.B. Mason Stadium tonight.

The Details

  • Senior Emma Mawn sealed the 4-3 shootout win for Stonehill after the teams were knotted with a goal apiece after 80-minutes of regulation and two overtimes. She slipped the shootout marker into the left side of the cage on the Skyhawks fifth attempt.

    Postgrad Keira Integlia stood out in goal for New Haven, keeping the Chargers in the mix with 11 saves.
  • Senior Abigail Campbell finished with three saves in the Stonehill cage, as well as denying a pair of New Haven shootout tries after the Chargers had gained a quick advantage when the Skyhawks missed their second attempt.
  • Freshman Abby Nixon opened the scoring with 8:22 left in the first half, when she knocked in a rebound at the far post for her fifth goal of the season.
  • Stonehill outshot New Haven 13-2 in the second half, including eight shots in the fourth quarter, in search of an equalizer. The marker came 3:06 into the fourth when sophomore Claudia Crowe fired a pass from the left side towards the goal, that was tipped across the face of goal by classmate Raegan Hickey to junior Madi Weber who tipped her fourth goal of the season into the right side.
