EASTON, Mass. (September 29, 2021) – Stonehill College senior goalkeeper Abigail Campbell has been named the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II Defensive Player of the Week by the organization today.

Campbell, who was named the Northeast-10 Conference's Goalkeeper of the Week for the second-straight week on Monday, earns national Defensive Player honors for the first time and it marks the second-straight week a member of the Stonehill field hockey program has garnered the recognition after sophomore back Madeleine McGee received the honor last week after being named NE10 Defensive Player of the Week for the first of two-straight weeks.

Campbell averaged 9.5 saves per game while posting a 0.50 goals against average and .950 save percentage with a shutout in Stonehill's 2-0 week. She capped the week with a career-high 13 saves, including 12 in the second half, to preserve a two-goal lead and notch her third shutout of the season in Saturday's 2-0 victory over Adelphi University. Campbell registered six stops in Wednesday's 4-1 win at Franklin Pierce University.

Campbell has started all nine games for Stonehill in goal this season and ranks second in the NE10 and third nationally in Division II with her 0.82 goals against average, posting a Division II-best .892 save percentage, with 6.4 saves per game to rank ninth in the Conference. She has three shutouts, owns an 8-1 record in the cage and has played 510-minutes after last night's win at Southern New Hampshire University.

Campbell has played 13 games in total over her four-year Stonehill career, posting a 0.82 GAA and .881 save percentage in 584:37.

Stonehill (8-1, 6-0 NE10), winners of seven straight and ranked No. 5 in this week's Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II poll, is back in action on Saturday, when it visits Pace University for an NE10 matchup at 4 p.m.
