#5 Field Hockey Battles to Sixth-Straight Win Over Adelphi, 2-0

EASTON, Mass. (September 25, 2021) - Stonehill College, ranked No. 5 in this week's Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II poll, staked out a two-goal lead in the first half and then answered Adelphi University's second half pressure to finish off its sixth-straight win with a 2-0 decision in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey action on Timothy J. Coughlin, '80 Memorial Field at W.B. Mason Stadium this afternoon.

    Sophomore Raegan Hickey had a hand in both Stonehill goals, with a goal and assist, while senior Abigail Campbell made 12 of her career-high 13 saves in the second half to preserve her third shutout of the season.
  • Hickey opened the scoring 4:48 into the contest with her sixth goal of the season off a Stonehill penalty corner as she slipped past two defenders in the middle of the circle and fired a reverse shot into the left side of the cage.
  • Hickey turned provider on Stonehill's second goal 6:49 into the second quarter, firing a cross from the right side to senior Emma Mawn on the left side for her fourth goal of the season.
  • Adelphi reversed the offensive pressure after halftime and outshot Stonehill 17-1 over the last half hour, but Campbell and the Skyhawks top-ranked defense were up to the challenge as she turned aside 12 shots and the Skyhawks held onto their fourth shutout of the season.
  • Sophomore Amanda Montiel finished with four saves in the cage for Adelphi, all in the first half and three in the opening quarter.
