Field Hockey Duo Repeat NE10 Weekly Honors

Caradonna and Hickey earn NE10 Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week accolades for second-straight week

EASTON, Mass. (September 13, 2021) – The Stonehill College field hockey duo of junior back Andrea Caradonna and sophomore forward Raegan Hickey have repeated their Northeast-10 Conference weekly honors the league office announced today.

Caradonna has once again been named the NE10's Defensive Player of the Week, while Hickey has repeated as Rookie of the Week. The duo led Stonehill to a split of their two contests last week, which included a Labor Day battle with top-ranked West Chester (Pa.) University as well as a 1-0 triumph over Saint Thomas Aquinas College in the Skyhawks NE10 opener on Saturday morning.

Caradonna keyed the Stonehill defensive effort that held its opponents to 11.5 shots and 6.5 penalty corners per game, allowing just six shots on goal per game for the week. She led the backline that held Saint Thomas Aquinas to just three shots, including two on target, in Saturday's 1-0 triumph to open the NE10 season.

Hickey had a role in all three Stonehill goals scored last week with a goal and two assists for four points. She recorded a goal and assist in Monday's setback at home to No. 1-ranked West Chester, and then assisted on the lone goal in Saturday's NE10 opening win at Saint Thomas Aquinas.

Caradonna has now started all 20 games she has played over her Stonehill career after starting all 17 for the Skyhawks as a freshman in 2019. She has posted a goal and assist, while adding a defensive save over her career. The lone goal was the gamewinner in a 2-0 victory over American International College on October 12, 2019. This season, she leads a Stonehill defense that ranks fourth in the NE10 with a 1.00 team goals against average, while leading the NE10 with two shutouts in three games.

Hickey has now had a hand in all four of Stonehill's goals over the first three games of her Stonehill career, having scored two and assisted on two others. She ranks fifth among NE10 scoring leaders with six points, while ranking second in assists and eighth in goals scored. Hickey scored the lone goal of the Skyhawks' season-opening 1-0 win over No. 2 East Stroudsburg (Pa.) University in her collegiate debut on September 4.

Stonehill (2-1, 0-0 NE10) is back in action tomorrow night, when it opens a three-game week by hosting No. 3-ranked Saint Anselm College for an NE10 matchup at W.B. Mason Stadium at 7 p.m. The Skyhawks host Mercy College for an NE10 clash on Saturday at 1 p.m., before hosting Mercyhurst College on Sunday at noon.
