Bentley Edges #7 Field Hockey, 2-1

EASTON, Mass. (October 15, 2021) - Bentley University held off Stonehill College, ranked No. 7 in this week's Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II poll, for a 2-1 victory in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey action on Senior Night to kickoff Homecoming Weekend on Timothy J. Coughlin, '80 Memorial Field at W.B. Mason Stadium tonight.

The Details

  • Freshman Lida Coco's third goal of the season with just 13.7-seconds left in the third quarter answered a tying goal from Stonehill and proved the difference for Bentley on the night.
  • Junior Madison Clark did the rest, making five of her six saves in the second half, including two in a scoreless fourth quarter, to preserve the win for the Falcons.
  • Junior Madison Halas opened the scoring off a penalty corner when she knocked in her second goal of the season when she pounced on a deflection off a defenders stick in front of the goal with 1:14 left in the first half.
  • Junior Madi Weber leveled the game with her third goal of the year when she fired in a drive from a low angle on the left side off a pass from sophomore Raegan Hickey with 2:40 to play in the third with the Skyhawks enjoying the run of play after halftime.
  • Coco's winner came just over two minutes later when she collected the ball off a turnover at the top of the circle and fired home from the center of the scoring area.
  • Senior Abigail Campbell finished with four saves in the Stonehill cage.
