Stonehill Women’s Track & Field Prepare for First NEC Outdoor Championships at Merrimack

NEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships Information

EASTON, Mass. (May 5, 2023) – The Stonehill College women's outdoor track and field team will be in North Andover, Mass. this weekend for the program's first Northeast Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships (May 6 and May 7). The teams competing against the Skyhawks are Central Connecticut, FDU, LIU, Merrimack, Sacred Heart, St. Francis Brooklyn, Saint Francis U, Stonehill, and Wagner.

"We are excited," said Head Coach, Michael Delgado. "This is the best time of year, championship season. This is everything we have worked for in the regular season and has led up to. So hopefully we are positioned to do as well as we can. We've been training our student-athletes to peak for this meet, so we're hoping to see the best performances of the year coming this weekend."

The Skyhawks will compete in various events, with many of their runners competing in relay events. In the 4x400 event, the Skyhawks rank fifth overall in the event in the conference, and look to finish with a faster time with two teams at the championship event.

Aneka Andrews, Kaytlin Encarnacao, Madison Rousseauand Grace Tyrrell will be competing in one of the relay teams for Stonehill. Coming into her first season at the collegiate level, freshman Andrews has had a strong season so far, competing in various hurdle and short-distance events throughout the season. She will also be competing in 400 meter hurdles, with her best time being earned at the Merrimack Alumni Classic (April 15), where she finished in third overall with a time of 1:09.70, putting her time in the top 15 in the conference. Junior Encarnacao has shined during this year's outdoor season, grabbing eight top-five finishes and two first-place finishes in an array of events. She will also be competing in the 400-meter race at the championship meet, with her best time recorded at the Holy Cross Invitational (April 22) with a 56.98, earning her a fourth-place finish and the second-best time in the conference. 

Sophomore Rousseau looks to continue her strong performances at the championship meet, where she has earned seven top-five finishes and two first-place finishes. She will be competing in the 100-meter hurdles, with her best time so far being timed at the Holy Cross Invitational (April 22) with a 14.57, putting her at the third-best time in the conference. She will also be competing in the 400-meter hurdles, with her best time being recorded at the Merrimack Alumni Classic (April 15) with a 1:06.22, placing her in the top 10 times in the conference. In her first collegiate season, freshman Tyrell looks to make her mark at Merrimack, as she will also be competing in the 400-meter hurdles. Her best recorded time was at the Skyhawks Invitational (April 29) where she finished with a time of 1:06.96, placing her in the top 10 in the conference. 

In the second team for the Skyhawks, Allison Moloney, Emma Lawrence, Elizabeth Marshalland Jenna French will be competing in the 4x400 event as well. In her first year, freshman Moloney has had a great season so far, having three top-five finishes. She will be competing in the 200-meter race as well, with her best time being recorded at the Skyhawk Invitational (April 29) with a 26.37, putting her in the top 20 best times in the conference. Sophomore Lawrence continues to shine in her second year as a Skyhawk, having six top-five finishes and two first-place finishes. She will also be competing in the 800-meter race, where her best time of 2:14.58 was recorded at the Holy Cross Invitational (April 22), putting her at the fourth-best time in the conference. 

Finishing her senior year with the Skyhawks, Marshall has had a great season with four top-five finishes. She will be competing in the 800-meter race as well. Her best time this season was 2:18.36 at the Holy Cross Invitational (April 22), putting her time in the top 10 in the conference. Also finishing her senior year season, French has had a solid season with a top-five finish and will be competing in the 800-meter event as well. Her best time was recorded at the Merrimack Alumni Classic (April 15) with a 2:24.51.

The Skyhawks will also have a 4x100 event team, consisting of Allison Moloney, Kaytlin Encarnacao, Aneka Andrews, Madison Rousseauand Grace TyrrellThe Skyhawks have the fourth-best time in the conference in the 4x100, earning a time of 48.73 at the Skyhawk Invitational. 

Next up in relays, the Skyhawks will compete in the 4x800, where they will have Elizabeth Marshall, Jordan Malloy, Ava Cote, Emma Lawrence, Caroline Surrette, Jenna Frenchand Emily Young running for Stonehill. Freshman Malloy has had an impressive first season with the Skyhawks, having four top-five finishes in multiple distance events. She will be competing in the 1500-meter race, where she had her best time at the Skyhawk Invitational (April 29) with a first-place time of 4:42.26, putting her in the top 10 in the conference. Freshman Cote has had three top-five finishes this season and will be competing in the 1500-meter race as well, where her best time was recorded at the Skyhawk Invitational (April 29) with a time of 4:52.28, putting her in the top 10 in the conference. 

Having a solid outdoor season, junior Surrette will be competing in the 800-meter race, with her best time of the season at the Skyhawk Invitational (April 29) with a time of 2:24.95. Freshman Young looks to make her mark at her first conference championship meet. She has had a great first season with three top-five finishes so far. She will compete in the 1500-meter race, with her best season time recorded at the Merrimack College Track Carnival (April 6) with a 4:53.73, putting her in the top 20 in the conference.

Competing in the 100-meter hurdles alongside Rousseau is junior Cassidy Becker, who has had an exceptional season so far, earning her best time of 15.58 in the event at the Holy Cross Invitational (April 22), placing in the top 10 in the conference. She will also be competing in the high jump event, where she places in the top 20 in the conference with her best-recorded height of 1.50m at the Holy Cross Invitational as well (April 22).

In the long jump event, the Skyhawks have both Kaia Eder and Sydney Cahill competing. Freshman Eder will represent Stonehill in two field events; the long jump and the triple jump. During this season, she has had nine top-five finished and a first-place finish in the long jump event. In the long jump event, she has her best-recorded distance of 5.55m at the Skyhawk Invitational (April 29), putting her distance as the third-best in the conference. For the triple jump, Eder has her best distance of 11.47m, putting her in the top 10 in the conference. 

Freshman Cahill will be competing in the LJ event, where her best distance of 5.18m was earned at the Skyhawk Invitational. She will also be competing in the javelin throw event, where she has her best throw recorded at the Merrimack Alumni Classic (April 15) with a distance of 29.19m. 

Also competing in the javelin throw event is senior Kaley Enrightwho has had an exceptional season and career so far, with six top-five finishes and two first-place finishes in the javelin event. As she finishes her senior year season, she looks to compete in the javelin and shot put events. In the javelin event, her best distance was recorded at the SNHU Spring Twilight Invitational (March 31) where she threw a distance of 40.02m, finishing first in the event, as well as having the fourth furthest distance in the conference. She will also be competing in the shot put event, where her best distance was recorded at the Merrimack College Track Carnival (April 6) with a distance of 11.42m, putting her in the top 10 in the conference. 

Competing in the shot put event is freshman Darla Jagrosse, who has had six top-five finishes in her first season. Her furthest distance was recorded at the Skyhawk Invitational (April 29) with a distance of 11.80m, putting her in the top 10 in the conference. She will also be competing in the discus event, where her best distance was at the Skyhawk Invitational (April 29) as well, with a mark of 35.99m, putting her in the top 10 in the conference.

Finishing off the field events for the Skyhawks, we have the hammer throw event and the pole vault event. In the hammer throw, the Skyhawks have sophomore Madison Gunderway competing. She has had a strong season so far with five top-five finishes, and currently holds the school record for the best hammer throw distance of 48.25m, where she earned first place at the Merrimack Alumni Classic, and is ranked second overall in the conference. 

In the pole vault event, the Skyhawks have Haley Lightbody and Abigail Larsson representing. Senior Lightbody has had a solid season so far with three top-five finishes, a top-season height of 3.35m at the Holy Cross Invitational (April 22), and a top-five height in the conference. Junior Larsson had her best height of 3.20m recorded at the Holy Cross Invitational (April 22), placing her in the top 10 in the conference.

Closing the distance events category, the Skyhawks have three more runners competing. Senior Victoria Lombardi has shined throughout her four years, with three top-five finishes this season, and looks to do the same at the championship meet. She will compete in the 1500-meter event, with her best season time of 4:51.08 being recorded at the Skyhawk Invitational (April 29), putting her in the top 20 in the conference. She will also be competing in the 5000-meter race, with her best time of the season being recorded at the Holy Cross Invitational (April 22) with a time of 18:02.85, putting her in the top five in the conference. 

Finishing her final season as a Skyhawk is fifth-year Rebecca Erhard. She has had a solid season so far with four top-five finishes, and multiple PRs. She will be competing in the 5000-meter race, with her best time of 17:59.59 being recorded at the Holy Cross Invitational (April 22), giving her the fourth-best time in the conference. She'll also be competing in the 10,000-meter event, with her best of 37:52.11 earned at the Black & Gold Invitational (March 31-April 1), giving her the fourth-best time in the conference. Competing alongside Erhard in the 10,000-meter race is senior Jillian Callahanwho has had a solid four years as a Skyhawk, competing in various distance events including the 1500-meter and the 5000-meter race.
