Women's Indoor Track and Field Place High in URI Invitational

KINGSTON, R.I. (February 12, 2023)- The Stonehill College women's indoor track and field team competed in the URI Coaches Invitational this afternoon. With a few runners and field event athletes chosen to compete in the invitational, Stonehill finished high on the leaderboard in various events.

 
 

Highlights

  • Junior Kaytlin Encarnacao (Reading, Mass. / Reading Memorial) ran in the 500-meter competition, placing second place overall, finishing in 1:19.17. 
  • Freshman Jordan Malloy (Colchester, Conn. / Bacon Academy) placed high in the 1000-meter race, placing third place with a time of 3:03.64, making that a new personal record for the runner.
  • Sophomore Madison Rousseau (Canton, Mass. / Canton) competed in the 200-meter race at the invite, placing third overall with a time of 26.47. Rousseau also competed in the 60-meter hurdles, placing fourth overall with a time of 9.04, making that a new personal record.

  • Sophomore Emma Lawrence (Milford, Mass. / Milford) ran in the 500-meter competition, crossing the finish line in 1:20.08 and placing fourth overall.
  • Freshman Emily Young (Newton, Mass. / Beverly) ran in the 1000-meter run, placing fourth place overall with a time of 3:05.75
  • Senior Jenna French (Waterbury, Conn / Sacred Heart) also ran in the 500-meter race, placing fifth overall in a time of 1:22.50.
  • Lawrence, French, Senior Elizabeth Marshall (Plymouth, Mass / Plymouth North), and Junior Caroline Surrette (Woburn, Mass. / Woburn Memorial) worked together in competing in the 4x400 relay race, placing fifth overall with a time of 4:13.79.
  • Freshman Kaia Eder (Moorestown, N.J. / Delran) competed in the triple jump event, placing fifth overall, hitting 10.78m (35' 4.5").
