Dakic and Perraudin double-winners to lead Seahawks to NEC win

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (February 19, 2023) – Wagner College rode the top of its lineup to a 4-2 victory over Stonehill College in Northeast Conference women's tennis action at CSI Tennis Courts tonight.

Highlights

  • Juniors Tara Dakic and Gabrielle Perraudin were double-winners at the top of the Wagner lineup to clinch the win.
  • Sophomore Marissa Such was a double-winner for Stonehill in the match.
  • Sophomore Paula Ysabelle Uy and freshmen Samantha Bentsianov and Jasmine Lin all earned singles wins for Wagner.

How It Happened

  • Stonehill won two of the three doubles matches to earn the first point in the match. Such and freshman Camila Zuluaga Rodriguez started with a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles, while senior Lily Peter and senior Steffi Antao didn't drop a set for their win at No. 2 doubles to clinch the first point.
  • Wagner followed by winning at No. 1 through 4 singles to earn the match win.
  • Dakic posted a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles against Stonehill senior Cristina Solorzano Valencia.
  • Perraudin battled past Antao, 6-0, 4-6, 10-5 at No. 2 and then Bentsianov edged freshman Anneliese Beltran 7-5, 6-4 at No. 3.
  • Such followed with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles against Wagner freshman Emma Lofstedt to pull the Skyhawks back within a point at 3-2.
  • Uy clinched the match win with her 6-4, 4-6, 17-15 triumph over Peter at No. 4.

Stonehill (4-4, 0-1 NEC) returns to the courts on Saturday, when it visits Sacred Heart University for an NEC dual match. Wagner (1-5, 1-0 NEC) visits Lafayette College on Saturday at 4 p.m.
