Beltran leads four double-winners for Skyhawks

WORCESTER, Mass. (September 28, 2022) – Stonehill College rolled to a 7-0 victory over College of the Holy Cross in a non-conference women's tennis match at Sinnott Family Tennis Facility this afternoon. 

Highlights

  • Freshmen Annaliese Beltran and Camila Zuluaga Rodriguez led four double-winners in the match, combining for a win at No.  2 doubles, while also adding singles victories.
  • Junior Lindsay Macdonald and sophomore Marissa Such were also double-winners for the Skyhawks.
  • Seniors Steffi Antao and Lily Peter each chipped in with singles wins as Stonehill swept the six singles matches.
  • Sophomore Ahana Nagarkatti and freshman Ashley Zilora teamed up for a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles for Holy Cross against Antao and Peter.

How it Happened

  • Beltran and Zuluaga Rodriguez first clinched the doubles point for Stonehill with their 6-2 win at No. 2 against sophomores Jasmine Rahman and Caroline Carlson after Such and Macdonald cruised to a 6-1 win at No. 3.
  • Beltran dropped just two games in rolling to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles against Rahman.
  • Zuluaga Rodriguez capped her two wins with a 6-3, 6-4 decision at No. 4 singles against sophomore Caroline Fredey.
  • Such posted a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 5 against Carlson for the Skyhawks.
  • Antao registered a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles against Nagarkatti, while Peter held off Zilora in third set tiebreaker after splitting the first two sets.
