Nicolich nets lone goal with 1:18 to play in regionally-ranked matchup of 2019

EASTON, Mass. (September 5, 2021) – Junior Sienna Nicolich knocked in a rebound with 1:18 to play in regulation to lift Molloy College to a 1-0 triumph over Stonehill College in a matchup of two programs that appeared in the United Soccer Coaches Association East Regional rankings two years ago, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, in non-conference women's soccer action at Skyhawk Field this afternoon.

How it Happened

  • The lone goal of the contest came off a corner kick as senior Lexi Verni got on the end of the corner with a header in the center of the 18, that Stonehill junior goalkeeper Hanna Copley was able to parry off the crossbar. The rebound dropped to Nicolich, who was able to push the ball past Copley into the left side of the net with just 1:18 to play in regulation.
  • Senior Jackie Carty made three of her four saves in the second half to keep the match scoreless until the late winner and logged the clean sheet.
  • Copley finished with three saves in her collegiate debut in goal for Stonehill.

Noteworthy

  • Senior captain Camryn Thompson notched three of Stonehill's five shots in the match, including a pair on target in the second half.
