Women's Golf Third on Day 1 of Golden Knights Orlando Invite

DeBoise cards opening round 75 to lead Skyhawks, sits fifth on leaderboard

ORLANDO, Fla. (March 27, 2023) – Stonehill College sits in third place in the team standings behind the solid opening round of freshman Jaelyn DeBoise after the first day of the Golden Knights Orlando Invitational, hosted by College of Saint Rose on the 5,801-yard, par 73 layout at Eagle Creek Golf Club today.

Stonehill opened its spring schedule with a 329 team score to sit third out of the six teams competing at the event. Eckerd College leads the team standings after the first round with an even-par team score of 292, followed by Franklin Pierce University at 314. The Skyhawks lead Adelphi University (333) by four strokes, with host Saint Rose (363) and Saint Anselm College (386) following. All four of Eckerd's scoring golfers are in the top five of the individual leaderboard, holding onto the top three positions as Melissa Ball carded a two-under-par round of 71 on Monday to lead teammate Sandra Eriksson (72) by a stroke.

DeBoise led Stonehill on Monday with a two-over-par round of 75 today and is tied for fifth in the field of 39 golfers. She followed up a one-over-par 37 on the front nine with a one-over 38 on the back nine that included three birdies on the par three 11th and 17th holes as well as the par five 18th to finish off her third round in the 70s this season.

    Senior Emily Kase is tied for 12th on the leaderboard after an opening round 80 in which she finished her front nine with a birdie on the par five ninth hole before shooting a two-over-par 39 on the back.
  • Senior Julia Dapron carded an 84 and is tied for 17th overall, recording two birdies on his round on the ninth and par four 15th hole.
  • Junior Hannah Pignato rounds out the scorers for Stonehill on Monday with a first-round score of 90 for a tie for 22nd overall, while sophomore Mollie Thomas shot a 95 for 30th overall.
  • Freshman Caitlin Anderson is also tied for 22nd overall while competing as an individual after a first round 90, while classmate Cheyenne Couture carded a 93 for 27th place.
  • Rounding out Stonehill's golfers at the event is freshman Cecilie Elie in 31st with a first round 97.
