DeBoise’s Collegiate Debut Ends with Third Place Finish

Springfield, Massachusetts, freshman follows up opening round 81, with Sunday 80

MIDDLEFIELD, Conn. (September 18, 2022) – Stonehill College freshman Jaelyn DeBoise completed her first collegiate tournament with a third-place finish in the field of 41 at the Wesleyan Fall Invitational, hosted by Wesleyan University at the 5,812-yard, par 72 layout at Lyman Orchards Jones Course today.

DeBoise, who entered the second round tied for third on the individual leaderboard with senior teammate Emily Kase, played the front nine in an even-par 36, keyed by three birdies on the par four fifth and sixth holes, as well as the par five ninth. She posted a 44 on the back nine to complete her 80, which marked the third-lowest round of the day in the field. DeBoise finished with a two-day score of 161 – eight shots off the lead.

Ruby Haylock from Bates College earned medalist honors with her two-day score of 153 after following up her opening round 79 with a two-over-par 74 today. She bested the field by seven strokes, with Emily Hou of Wellesley College posting a score of 160 to finish second in the field after a second round 76 to go with an 84 on Saturday.

Haylock led Bates to the team title with a two-day score of 656 (330-326), 13-strokes better than host Wesleyan in second at 669 (337-332), while Wellesley took third at 672 (339-333) and Stonehill fourth with 687 (342-345).

  • Kase followed up her opening round 81 with a score of 87 today and a two-day total of 168 to finish tied for ninth overall, marking her third career top ten finish. She carded a birdie on the par-five ninth as well today, finishing the tournament with two.
  • Sophomore Mollie Thomas finished tied for 19th overall, shaving two strokes off her first round 89 with an 87 today.
  • Junior Hannah Pignato placed 27th overall at 187 (91-96), while freshman Caitlin Anderson placed 28th at 188 (97-91), with a big improvement on Sunday to cap her first collegiate event.
  • Freshman Cheyenne Couture capped her first collegiate event tied for 23rd overall with a two-day score of 183 (93-90) while competing as an individual at the Invitational.
