Skyhawks rank fourth in team standings heading to Sunday's final round

MIDDLEFIELD, Conn. (September 18, 2022) – Stonehill College senior Emily Kase and freshman Jaelyn DeBoise both recorded 81s to lead the women's golf team on the opening day of the Wesleyan Fall Invitational, hosted by Wesleyan University, at Lyman Orchards Jones Course on Saturday.

Kase and DeBoise's opening round scores of 81 are good for a tie for third in the field of 41 on the medalist leaderboard, just two strokes behind first round leader Ruby Haylock from Bates College with an opening round 79. She leads teammate Alex Voight-Shelley (80) by a stroke heading to Sunday's final round. The Bobcats lead the team standings after the first round with a team score of 330. Host Wesleyan is second with a score of 336, followed by Wellesley College (339) and Stonehill in fourth at 342.

Kase played the front nine in 41 strokes, before carding a 40 on the back for her round of 81. DeBoise shot 42 on the front and a team-best 39 on the back in her collegiate debut to finish at 81.

  • Sophomore Mollie Thomas added a score of 89 for Stonehill on Saturday.
  • Junior Hannah Pignato rounded out the Stonehill scorers with a first round 91. Freshman Caitlin Anderson rounded out the Skyhawks lineup with a round of 97 in her collegiate debut.
  • Notable among Stonehill's individual entries was an opening round 93 by freshman Cheyenne Couture in her collegiate debut.
