Pacheco Named NEC Field Athlete of the Week

EASTON, Mass. (May 2, 2024) – Senior Jacob Pacheco (Merrimack, N.H.) earned his first Northeast Conference Field Athlete of the Week and Prime Performer honor of the spring, the conference announced on Wednesday.

The Stonehill College track and field team hosted the 15th Annual Skyhawk Invite this past weekend as the men won the event with 216 points while Merrimack came in second with 119 points and Holy Cross took third place with 110 points.

Pacheco led all field performers on Saturday, placing second in the pole vault, hitting a mark of 4.55m (14' 11.25"), just behind his personal record of 4.56m (14' 11.5") in the outdoor PV. He now ranks fourth in the NEC in the pole vault this spring.

Pacheco followed up his impressive performance in the pole vault by winning the javelin throw to move into third in the conference rankings with a toss of 58.90m (193' 3"), setting a new PR.

Also earning his fourth consecutive Prime Performer nod from the NEC was senior Solomon King (Norwood, Mass.) who broke a Stonehill record for the fourth consecutive week while also setting the W.B. Mason Stadium facility record in the 100m dash.

King set the top time in the conference at 10.43 seconds. King also anchored the 4x100-meter relay team that broke the outdoor school record on Saturday, winning the event with a time of 41.48 seconds.

King won his third event of the day when he finished the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.35 seconds.

Stonehill track and field will be competing at NEC Outdoor Championships this weekend on the campus of Central Connecticut State University in New Britain Connecticut beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
