Men’s Track and Field Competes in First Meet of 2024 at UMass Flagship Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. (January 14, 2024) - The Stonehill College men's track and field team competed in the University of Massachusetts Flagship Indoor Invitational Sunday at the TRACK at New Balance.

RESULTS

FIELD EVENTS

  • Junior Parker Hagen (Newport, R.I.) placed sixth in the triple jump, reaching a distance of 13.35m while freshman Drew Pierson (Ellsworth, Maine) came in ninth with a mark of 12.78m which is a new personal best for the freshman.
  • Freshman Keagan Fletcher (Wrentham, Mass.) set a personal best in the high jump with his 14th-place finish as he notched a height of 1.85m.
  • Senior Chris Cox (Warwick, R.I.) came in 12th place in the shot put with a toss of 13.00m and placed 15th in the weight throw, setting a new personal best with a throw of 14.95m.
  • Sophomore Jonathan Scampoli (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) had a 14th-place finish in the shot put, reaching a distance of 12.77m with his throw.
  • Junior Michael Gozzo (Weymouth, Mass.) also finished in the top-20 of the shot put, hitting a mark of 12.32m to place 19th.

TRACK EVENTS

  • Senior Solomon King (Norwood, Mass.) had the best finish of the day for the Skyhawks, coming in second place in the 200m dash with a time of 21.58 seconds.
  • Not far behind King was junior Shea Drugan (Westfield, Mass.) who crossed the finish line in 21.99 seconds to come in 10th place.
  • Junior Louis Warner (Kinderhook, N.Y.) finished in 18th place in the 800m with a time of 1:59.2, less than two seconds off his personal best.
  • Senior Patrick Garratt (Westwood, Mass.) placed 12th in the 3000m race as he crossed the finish line in 8:38.1 to set a new personal best.
  • Fifth-year Colin Black (Hopedale, Mass.) also set a new personal best in the 3000m race as he finished in 8:42.54 to place 14th.
  • The Stonehill 4x400m relay team came in fifth place with a time of 3:22.38 using the quartet of King, Warner, freshman Jon Dougherty, and sophomore Patrick Morin (Barnstable, Mass.).
