Five different Skyhawks score in victory, Meade tallied his first-career goal
HOOKSETT, N.H. (January 25, 2017) – The Stonehill College men's ice hockey team scored in each period of a 5-1 victory over Southern New Hampshire University at the Ice Den Arena in Hooksett, N.H., Wednesday night.

With the triumph, the Skyhawks clinch the season series with the Penmen and two points in the Northeast 10 Conference standings. Stonehill (7-11-3, 4-3-0 NE10) saw five different goal scorers, including Cameron Wright (West Dummerston, Vt./Vermont Academy), Evan Jacques (Norton, Mass./South Shore Kings - EJHL), Conor Cassidy (Wilmington, Del./Canterbury and Kents Hill), Brian Higgins (Milton, Mass./Proctor Academy), and Ryan Meade (Tewksbury, Mass./Tilton School).
Southern New Hampshire (11-11-0, 4-4-0 NE10) recorded one goal on the evening from Joseph Berardi out of the 31 shots made by the Penmen.
Even though Southern New Hampshire had the shot advantage in the first period, 10-8, Stonehill was able to record two tallies to the Penmen's one. Wright found the back of the net from the right side of the cage, as Connor Collier (Madison, N.J./New Jersey Hitmen-USPHL) dished the puck to him from the top of the zone for a 1-0 game at 8:36, three seconds after Southern New Hampshire killed its first penalty.
The Penmen answered five minutes later at 13:08 when Berardi recorded his fourth goal of the season off an assist from Artem Efimov-Barakov. The Skyhawks put up another tally at 19:38, right before the end of the first, as Jacques crashed the cage off passes from Wright and Christopher Page (Winthrop, Mass./Winthrop) for his 11th of the season.
In the second period, Hall skated up the middle of the Skyhawks' offensive zone and dished the puck backwards to Cassidy for a one-timer tipin for a two-goal advantage, 3-1, at 13:53. Stonehill continued pressing as the Skyhawks got off three-straight shots in a power play before Wright took the puck on the left side of the net. He passed it off to Higgins who cut through the right side defense finding the back of the cage at 16:40 for a three-goal lead, 4-1.
The Penmen had four opportunities off of power plays in the third frame, but were unsuccessful, while the Skyhawks had two man advantages and capitalized on an empty net late in the period. With a delayed Stonehill penalty at 16:42, Southern New Hampshire pulled its goaltender at 16:17 and Meade ran with the puck finding the back of the cage in the short handed goal at 17:38, for his first-collegiate tally.
Stonehill will have an opportunity to earn two more points in the conference standings on Saturday night at the Foxboro Sports Center, as it hosts Franklin Pierce University for a 6:10 p.m. puck drop in the Skyhawks Purple and White game.
