Jewett scores the goal that tied up the game, 3-3
HERSHEY, Pa. (October 30, 2016) – The Stonehill College men's ice hockey scored in each period to erase the deficit and earn a 3-3 overtime tie with Lebanon Valley College Sunday afternoon in non-conference play at Hersheypark Arena.

Stonehill (1-0-1) saw Connor Collier (Madison, N.J./New Jersey Hitman - USPHL) tally his second-career goal, as Evan Jacques (Norton, Mass./South Shore Kings - EJHL) recorded his first of the season and Connor Jewett (Berlin, N.H./Berlin) registered the first of his career. Tommy Newton (Hollis, N.H./Portland Pirates – USPHL Premier) and Christopher Page (Winthrop, Mass./Winthrop) picked up their first points of their career as they assisted Stonehill's first and third goals, respectively. The Skyhawk's Billy Palmer (Cranston, R.I./Boston Bandits-EHL) recorded 45 saves on the night out of the 48 shots taken by the Dutchmen.
Lebanon Valley (0-1-1) saw Brett Johnson record two tallies, as Jared Karas picked up the third for the Dutchmen. Bryan Hovanec, Brad Nolan, Brett Johnson, and Karas assisted in the goals.
Right after the seventh faceoff, that the Dutchmen won, while the Skyhawks were shorthanded because of a previous hooking penalty, Johnson capitalized on a pass from Hovenac in the 5th minute of the period putting Lebanon Valley up, 1-0.
Stonehill fought for four more minutes, until Newton was able to find Collier in front of the cage to even up the game at one. The Dutchmen did not let much time pass, as they took the lead once more, 2-1, with a shorthanded goal for both with less than 10 minutes remaining in the period. Karas would pick up the second lead for Lebanon Valley, as Nolan and Johnson helped the Dutchman gain the lead.
The second period saw nine penalties throughout both teams, but the Skyhawks would knot the game at two, once more, as Jacques would capitalize with the extra-man advantage 15:27 into the second period. Both teams only saw 10 shots a piece in the second frame.
Karas once again was in the action, as 12:21 had passed before he sent the puck to Johnson picking up the Dutchmen's third lead of the game, 3-2. After a shot by the Dutchmen that was blocked, Stonehill cleared the puck from their defensive zone as Page found Jewett open for a shot, which found the back of the cage tying the game once more, 3-3.
Lebanon Valley had the majority of the scoring opportunities in the overtime period, registering eight shots on goal Stonehill's one. Palmer was up to the challenge, turning away all eight to help the Skyhawks leave the Dutchmen with a point.
Overall the Dutchmen out shot the Skyhawks 48-34, as Stonehill was able to capitalize on one of seven power plays compared to Lebanon Valley who went two-for-seven.
Stonehill takes on Plymouth State University on Thursday, November 3 for a 6 p.m. matchup.
