Men's Ice Hockey Falls to Plymouth State, 7-2

Freshmen Hall and Godin pick up their first-collegiate goals

PLYMOUTH, N.H. (November 3, 2016) – The Stonehill College men's ice hockey team dropped its first non-conference contest to Plymouth State University, 7-2, Thursday night at Hanaway Rink in Plymouth, N.H.

Stonehill (1-1-1) saw freshmen Nicholas Godin (New London, N.H./Tabor Academy) and Jack Hall (Shelburne, Vt./Proctor Academy) tally their first-collegiate goals, while Connor Tedesco (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) and Brian Higgins (Milton, Mass./Milton) picked up the assists, for their third and second of the season, respectively. Billy Palmer (Cranston, R.I./Bishop Hendricken) registered 23 saves, as Kyle Paquette (Tewksbury, Mass./Tewksbury) appeared in his first game and recorded eight saves.

Plymouth State's (1-1-0) Ryan Stevens scored twice, while Tim Laroque, Ryan Callahan, Tim Perron, Drake Longaker, and Cam Cundy each recorded one goal in the victory.

The Panthers acted early and often in the first period as a 14-6 shot advantage put Plymouth State up 3-0. The Panthers went on to record its three goals within a four-minute span as Stevens, Laroque and Callahan were the goal scorers.

After falling behind 3-0 early in the first period, Stonehill capitalized on a power play when Tedesco found Godin at 17:21 cutting the deficit to two, 3-1. The Skyhawks defense was able to contain the Panthers, as Stonehill held the shot advantage in the second period 6-5.

Plymouth State controlled the pace of the game once more in the third period as Perron capitalized on a power play, and Logaker, Stevens and Cundy extended the Panthers' lead to six with less than five minutes remaining in the game, 7-1. Stonehill was able to squeeze in one final goal at 17:17 with a man advantage as Higgins assisted Hall in his first-collegiate goal.

Stonehill hosts Southern New Hampshire University on Monday, November 7 for a 7:00 p.m. contest as it opens up Northeast-10 Conference play with its first home game of the season.
