Wright tallies the Skyhawks' lone goal
Foxborough, Mass. (December 10, 2016) – The Stonehill College men's ice hockey team fell to non-conference foe Wesleyan University, 5-1, Saturday afternoon at Foxboro Sports Center.

For Stonehill, (3-7-2) Cameron Wright (West Dummerston, Vt./Springfield Pics-USPHL Premier) recorded the lone goal for the Skyhawks, as Evan Jacques (Norton, Mass./South Shore Kings-EJHL) assisted the tally. Kyle Paquette (Tewksbury, Mass./Neponset Valley River Rats) registered a career-high 22 saves in the afternoon game.
Wesleyan (5-2-0) saw five different goal scorers including Sean Ross, James Kline, Matt Horton, Dylan Hoize, and Cam Mccusker. Goaltender Dawson Sprigings registered 28 saves.
Stonehill killed its first power play two minutes into the game, as Wesleyan was only able to get off four-straight shots in the two minute penalty. Ten minutes later, Wesleyan picked up its first penalty and killed the power play eight seconds before the first goal of the game. Ross found the back of the cage for the Cardinals, as Hoize and Tyler Wyatt recorded the assists. The Skyhawks held the Cardinals to a 1-0 lead for the rest of the period.
The Skyhawks began the second period with a penalty, as the Cardinals took advantage with a man-up opportunity and scored about four minutes into the frame. Kline tallied his third goal of the season from Andy Espinoza and Walker Harris for a 2-0 lead. Wesleyan continued pressing as Cole Morrissette won a faceoff only 20 seconds after the Cardinals' second goal, to find Quincy Oujevolk who sent a slapshot to Horton for his first score of the season.
Both teams fought for possession for the next 15 minutes until Jacques dished the puck to Wright, who found the back of the cage for his fourth goal of the season, cutting the deficit to two, 3-1.
The Skyhawks were able to kill its fifth penalty of the game five minutes into the third period, as the Cardinals killed both of its penalties in the frame. Stonehill held Wesleyan for 14 minutes in the third period, until Hoize recorded his second goal of the season at 14:24. About a minute later, Wesleyan capitalized on a man-advantage opportunity as Mccusker scored a power play goal with assists from Espinoza and Chad Malinowski for a four-goal lead, 5-1.
Stonehill completes its 2016 schedule with a final home contest against non-conference rival Johnson and Wales University on Monday, December 12 with a 7:00 p.m. puck drop at Foxboro Sports Center.
