DePoalo Tabbed NE-10 Player and Rookie of the Week

Easton, Mass. (February 5, 2013) – Stonehill freshman Thomas DePoalo (Mendham, N.J.) has been named Rookie of the Week and Player of the Week by the Northeast-10 Conference, it was announced Tuesday.

DePoalo, a freshman forward for the Stonehill ice hockey team, recorded five points in two games last week for the Skyhawks. The freshman notched three goals during a 7-2 non-conference victory over the UMass Dartmouth Corsairs Tuesday night. He scored two second period goals, including a power-play tally at 5:08 of the stanza, and finished off the hat-trick with a goal at 16:46 of the third.

DePoalo continued his hot scoring Saturday evening during a 5-4 loss at the hands of Franklin Pierce. The forward collected two assists in the third period that helped the Skyhawks muscle their way back from a two-goal deficit to tie the game at four. With the five points on the week DePoalo now has 11 points on the season, which ranks fifth among all NE-10 freshmen.

Stonehill returns to action this Saturday when it hosts Southern New Hampshire at 4:10 p.m for Senior/Family and Friends night at the Foxboro Sports Center.
