Rooney scores twice to lead Skyhawks offense 

Junior forward Bryan Rooney scored two goals for the Skyhawks in their 4-1 victory over the Penmen.

FOXBORO, Mass. (November 14, 2012) – The Stonehill College men's ice hockey team posted a 4-1 victory over Southern New Hampshire University in Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) action on Wednesday night at the Foxboro Sports Center. 

Junior forward Bryan Rooney (Canton, Mass.) potted two goals while senior captain and forward Dana Borges (Taunton, Mass./Williston Northampton) notched the game-winning goal at 9:01 of the second period and also dished out his fifth assist of the season. 

Sophomore goaltender Chris Tasiopoulos (Norwell, Mass./Thayer Academy) made a game-high 38 saves for the Skyhawks including 14 in the third period. Junior forward Bill Carey (Weymouth, Mass) opened up the scoring for Stonehill with his fourth marker of the season at 5:49 of the first stanza. 

For the Penmen, sophomore forward Steven Berry (Ashburn, Virginia/New Hampton School) tied up the contest with his first goal of the season in the opening period at 16:53. 

Freshman forward Jim Gabrione (Boca Raton, Florida) and junior forward Connor Audycki (Bellevue, Washington/Issaquah) were credited with assists on the tally. 

Southern New Hampshire junior netminder Tyler Holske (Attleboro, Massachusetts) turned away 34 shots in the loss. 

The Penmen went 1-for-3 in power play chances while Stonehill was 0-for-2 with the man advantage. 

Stonehill (3-4-0, 1-0-0 NE-10) travels to Assumption College on Saturday, November 17 for a 4:35 p.m. contest. Southern New Hampshire (0-1-0, 0-1-0 NE-10) hosts Suffolk University in non-conference action on Tuesday, November 20 at 7 p.m.
