EASTON, Mass. (May 4, 2022)- Stonehill College freshman pitcher, Skylar Brandemarte and sophomore catcher, Alexandra Hammond were both named to the NE10 All-Conference Third Team and Brandemarte was also named to the All-Rookie Team as announced by the conference earlier this afternoon. 

For Brandemarte, these are her first NE10 honors this season and she is the first freshman to be named to the All-Rookie Team since 2018 (Michelle Theilgard and Hannah Ricker). She is also the first pitcher to earn All-Conference Third Team since 2015 when Sarah Ropiak did so and the first pitcher to be named to the All-Rookie Team since Megan Ruonavaara in 2013.

Brandemarte had a stellar first year for the Skyhawks. She finished with 102 strikeouts and is now just the fifth pitcher in program history to have 100 strikeouts in a season and the first since 2019 when Katherine Rayner did so. Brandemarte is also just one of two freshmen (Megan Ruonavaara-2013) to earn the achievement. Brandemarte posted a sub 2.50 ERA (2.30) which led the team and is ranked within the top-10 of the NE10 (ninth) and second among all freshman pitchers. She ended the year with 12 wins which is the seventh most in the NE10 and is tied for fourth-most wins in a season in program history.

She was also one of the Skyhawks' most durable pitchers going 148.1 innings and having 19 complete games all of which led the team. In terms of the conference, Brandemarte is ranked seventh in innings pitched (second among all freshmen) and third in complete games (second among all freshmen). As for program history, Brandemarte is she is fourth in most innings pitched during a season and third in complete games during a season. 

Hammond's NE10 All-Conference Third Team selection is also the first NE10 honor of her career. Hammond is the first catcher to earn NE10 All-Conference Third Team since Michelle Theilgard earned the honor last season.  Hammond had a career year for the Skyhawks as the sophomore catcher set career high's in the following: hits (29), doubles (5), home runs (3), RBIs (11), stolen bases (3), batting average (.326), slugging percentage (.483), and on-base percentage (.381). She also led the team in many offensive categories as well including home runs, batting average, and slugging percentage. Overall for her career, Hammond is a .283 hitter with three home runs, 14 RBIs, has an on-base percentage of .335, slugs .375, has stolen five bases, and has caught a runner stealing. 

As a team, the Stonehill softball team finished 15-23 (11-15 NE10) which marked a 10-win improvement and is the second-largest turnaround in program history.
