Women’s Cross Country Eighth at New England Championships

O'Keefe has led the way for the Skyhawks in three of the four meets 


Freeman bested her time from last year's New England Championship by seven seconds 

DORCHESTER, Massachusetts (October 12, 2019) - The Stonehill College women's cross country team, ranked No. 2 in the East Regional U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA), finished eighth out of 22 teams at the New England Championships on Saturday at Franklin Park.

The University of New Hampshire led the way for the varsity race tallying 63 points, while Dartmouth College followed in second with 65 points and the University of Massachusetts Amherst rounded out the top three with 128 points. Stonehill was the first Division II team across the line, as they tallied 236 points in the five-kilometer race.  

Sophomore Siobhan O'Keefe led the way for the Skyhawks for the third meet this season out of four clocking in a time of 18:31 finishing in the top 25 with a 22nd-place finish. Senior Alyssa Freeman was the next Purple & White across the line clocking in a time of 19:03 out of 154 competitors. She placed 48th overall.

Senior Jordan Callahan wasn't far behind with her time of 19:10, placing 55th, as junior Sam Curtin was three seconds behind finishing 58th overall clocking in at 19:13.

Junior Jillian Howard was the fifth Skyhawk across the finish line tallying a 61st-place mark and a time of 19:18.

The Skyhawks continue championship season as they compete at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships on Sunday, October 27 at Jamesville Beach State Park in Jamesville, New York hosted by Le Moyne College.
