NE10 Champions! Women’s Cross Country Wins 18th Championship

Curtin led the way for the Skyhawks as she earned her third cross country All-Conference honor

JAMESVILLE, New York (October 27, 2019) - The Stonehill College women's cross country team, ranked No. 2 in the East Regional U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA), captured its 18th Northeast-10 Conference Championship in program history and its 11th-straight Sunday afternoon at Jamesville Beach State Park, hosted by Le Moyne College.

Stonehill totaled 36 points in the 14-team competition, as six Skyhawks earned All-Conference honors, by finishing in the top 21. Southern New Hampshire University, who saw five in the top 25, finished second out of the 14 teams with 74 points. Saint Anselm College took home third with 134 points, while Adelphi University and Assumption College rounded out the top five teams with 142 points and 147 points, respectively.

The Stonehill women dominated the course on Sunday afternoon placing seven in the top 25, as no other team was able to make that happen, and 12 finished in the top 40.

Sam Curtin earned her third cross country All-Conference honor as she finished third overall out of 136 competitors for her second first team honor of her career. The junior clocked in a time of 23:54.1 in the six-kilometer race.

Classmate Jillian Howard picked up her first-career cross country All-Conference first team recognition as she placed sixth with a time of 24:37.6. Sophomore Siobhan O'Keefe also picked up an All-Conference first team honor with a seventh-place finish and a time of 24:39.3, as she earned a third team recognition last year.

Senior Jordan Callahan was the first Skyhawk named to the All-Conference second team as she collected her second-career cross country honor taking home eighth with a time of 24:46.2. Junior Sophia Anderle was also tabbed on the second team with her 12th-place finish as she was the last Purple & White to earn the Skyhawks points with her time of 24:57.6. This was Anderle's third cross country All-Conference accolade.

Senior Anna Lastra was named to the NE10 All-Conference third team with a 19th-place finish and a time of 25:17.6. This was the seniors' fourth cross country All-Conference accolade, as she has now earned two third team honors, one second team honor, and a first team honor.

Following today's NE10 Championship, the Skyhawks will be off for a week before aiming to win their 16th NCAA Division II East Region Championship. The race will take place at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, hosted by Jefferson University on Saturday, November 9.
