Young and Wyman double-winners for Saints

WELLESLEY, Mass. (April 2, 2016) – Saint Lawrence University, ranked 16th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Northeast Region rankings, claimed a 5-0 victory over Stonehill College, ranked sixth in the ITA East Region rankings, on day two of the 2016 Nor'easter Bowl, hosted by Wellesley College and Brandeis University, at Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse this evening.

Junior Hallie Young (Foxborough, Massachusetts/Foxborough) and sophomore Emily Wyman (Naples, Florida/Barron Collier) led Saint Lawrence to victory with wins in singles and doubles play. Wyman teamed up with freshman Alexandra Dadoly (Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts/Nauset Regional) for an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles as the Saints swept the three doubles matches on their way to victory. Wyman followed that up with a 7-5, 6-2 decision at No. 1 singles against Stonehill senior Bailey Paradiso (Birmingham, Michigan/Marian).

Young and sophomore Lia Petersen (Bridgehampton, New York/Westminster School) combined for an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles and then notched a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles against former high school teammate Emma Prinos (Foxborough, Massachusetts/Foxborough). Senior Morgan McNeal (Beaufort, South Carolina/Hilton Head Island) and junior Georgia Comber (Vancouver, British Columbia/Brentwood College School) added a doubles point for the Saints with their 8-2 win at No. 1.

Stonehill senior Analise Kump (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) was a game away from earning a straight sets win at No. 2 singles for the Skyhawks against McNeal when the match was halted at 6-2, 5-1 when Saint Lawrence won the deciding match point.

Stonehill (13-9, 10-2 NE-10) is right back in action tomorrow when it hosts College of the Holy Cross for a non-conference match inside the Sally Blair Ames Sports Complex at 1 p.m. Saint Lawrence (7-4, 2-1 Liberty) rounds out its weekend at the Nor'easter Bowl tomorrow against Brandeis University at 9 a.m.
