Skyhawks head to NE-10 Tournament as No. 3 seed 

WALTHAM, Mass. (October 14, 2015) – Stonehill College, ranked sixth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II poll, capped the Northeast-10 Conference regular season with an 8-1 victory over rival Bentley University in women's tennis action this afternoon.

Senior Analise Kump (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) and sophomore Victoria Barbetta (Wesley Chapel, Florida/Saddlebrook Prep) led four double-winners for Stonehill. The duo teamed up for an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles as the Skyhawks came out of doubles play with a 2-1 advantage before sweeping all six singles matches. Kump added a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles against senior Catherine Gianino (Burlington, Massachusetts/Burlington) for her eighth straight win, while Barbetta capped a 12-0 run through the NE-10 regular season in singles play with a 6-3, 6-1 win over senior Brittani Hetyei (Vernon, New Jersey/Vernon Township).

Junior Amanda DePasquale (Londonderry, New Hampshire/Londonderry) and freshman Nicole Downey (Groveland, Massachusetts/Pentucket Regional) also earned singles and doubles wins for Stonehill. They combined for an 8-1 win at No. 3 and then Downey added a come-from-behind 4-6, 6-1, 10-6 win at No. 5 singles against junior Susan Stowe (Hebron, Connecticut/RHAM). DePasquale contributed a 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) win at No. 6 against sophomore Alexia Petruzziello (North Haven, Connecticut/North Haven).

Senior Bailey Paradiso (Birmingham, Michigan/Marian) and sophomore Emma Prinos (Foxboro, Massachusetts/Foxboro) each chipped in with singles wins for Stonehill at No. 1 and No. 4, respectively.

Senior Ludmila Yamus (Deer Park, New York/Half Hollow Hills East) and junior Rachel Petrini (Madison, Connecticut/Daniel Hand) teamed up to earn Bentley's point with an 8-5 victory at No. 1 doubles.

Stonehill (11-3, 10-2 NE-10) will host an NE-10 Tournament first round match against sixth-seeded Le Moyne College next Wednesday, October 21, at Charles Watt Tennis Courts at 2 p.m. Bentley (7-7, 6-6 NE-10) caps its fall season at University of Hartford on Saturday at 11 a.m.
