Skyhawks named ITA All-Academic Team, while six student-athletes earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status

ITA Announces Division II Academic Teams

EASTON, Mass. (July 28, 2016) – The Stonehill College women's tennis program was recognized for its efforts in the classroom with All-Academic Team status from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, while six Skyhawks were also named to the ITA's Scholar-Athlete team.

Stonehill earns ITA All-Academic Team status for recording a team cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or above. Additionally, recent graduates Analise Kump (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) and Caitlin McKinney (Braintree, Massachusetts/Braintree), rising juniors Victoria Barbetta (Wesley Chapel, Florida/Saddlebrook Prep), Janet Haas (Northbridge, Massachusetts/Northbridge) and Melissa Parker (Madison, Connecticut/Daniel Hand) as well as rising sophomore Nicole Downey (Groveland, Massachusetts/Pentucket Regional) have all collected ITA Scholar-Athlete status for having a 3.50 GPA or above for the 2015-16 academic year.

Kump, who recently graduated with a 3.86 grade point average as an international relations major, earns Scholar-Athlete honors after being named the Northeast-10 Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence award winner this spring and is a three-time NE-10 Academic All-Conference selection. She received the Fr. Jack McCarthy, CSC, Leadership Award at the College's Student-Athlete Awards Ceremony this spring, is a three-time St. Thomas Aquinas, Patron Saint of Students, Medal recipient for having the highest cumulative grade point average on the team and is the first Stonehill women's tennis student-athlete to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District At Large honors with her first team selection this spring. Kump has been named to the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll all eight semesters.

Kump is a five-time All-Northeast-10 performer, earning second team honors at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles last fall and finishing her career with All-NE-10 accolades for doubles three times and singles twice. She collected NE-10 All-Championship team honors as a junior and senior and earned Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors for the 2014 NE-10 Championship team. Kump posted a 28-12 combined record in singles and doubles play during her senior season, with a 12-4 singles record, including 9-1 in NE-10 matches, to go with a 16-8 combined doubles mark, including 7-2 in the NE-10, with three different playing partners. She capped her four year career with a 124-51 (.709) career combined record in singles and doubles play. Kump posted a 53-17 singles record, including 32-8 in NE-10 play, to go with a 71-24 doubles clip, including 38-6 in the NE-10 in her career.

McKinney recently graduated with a 3.37 cumulative GPA as a psychology major at Stonehill. She earned NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll status all eight semesters at the College and appeared in eight matches for Stonehill during her senior season. McKinney posted a career combined singles and doubles record of 14-8, including 8-1 in Northeast-10 matches, with a 3-2 doubles mark with three different playing partners during her senior season. She finished her career with a 7-5 overall singles record, including 4-1 in NE-10 matches, and a 7-3 doubles mark, winning all four of her NE-10 matches.


Recent graduate Analise Kump, a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection, who earned a perfect 4.0 semester GPA this spring headlines Stonehill's six ITA Scholar-Athlete performers.

Barbetta, who has earned a 3.59 cumulative grade point average as a marketing major at Stonehill, earns ITA Scholar-Athlete status after having been named to the NE-10 Academic All-Conference team for the first time earlier this spring. She received the "Female Breakout Sophomore Award" at the College's Student-Athlete Awards Ceremony this spring after collecting All-Northeast-10 first team honors at No. 3 singles and second team All-NE-10 accolades, with Kump, at No. 2 doubles last fall. Barbetta was an NE-10 All-Rookie Team pick as a freshman.

Barbetta posted a combined 40-10 record in singles and doubles play during her sophomore season, with a 19-2 mark in NE-10 matches. She was 22-3 in singles play, including 11-0 in the NE-10, to go with an 18-7 doubles mark with three different playing partners, including 8-2 in the NE-10. Barbetta will enter her junior season with a combined 67-27 record in singles and doubles play over her first two seasons, having posted a 36-11 career singles mark, including 21-2 in the NE-10, and 31-16 doubles clip, including 17-5 in Conference play.

Haas earns ITA Scholar-Athlete status having recorded a 3.42 cumulative GPA as a psychology major at Stonehill. She has been named to the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll all four semesters to date, appearing in eight events over the course of her sophomore season and reaching the third round of the B-singles bracket of the ITA East Regional in September. Haas posted a combined 7-4 record in singles and doubles play this season, including a 5-3 singles mark and winning both of her Northeast-10 matches. She is a combined 7-5 in singles and doubles play over her first two seasons.

Parker has earned a 3.68 cumulative grade point average as a sociology and elementary education major at Stonehill to earn her spot on the ITA Scholar-Athlete team. She has been named to the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll each semester in her first year as a member of the team during her sophomore year. Parker appeared in eight matches for the Skyhawks this season, posting a combined record of 5-3 in singles and doubles play, winning all three of her NE-10 matches, including a 4-2 doubles mark with four different playing partners.

Downey, who has earned a 3.53 cumulative grade point average as a biology major at Stonehill, enjoyed a breakout freshman year for the Skyhawks. She earned All-Northeast-10 third team honors at No. 5 singles as well as NE-10 All-Rookie Team status in her first collegiate season, also winning the B-singles draw at the ITA East Regional in September. Downey earned NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll status her first two semesters and was named the Conference's Rookie of the Week three times. She posted a combined singles and doubles record of 34-12 for the year, including a 20-5 singles mark with a 7-1 record in the NE-10, and a 14-7 doubles clip with seven different playing partners, including 9-1 in Conference play.

Stonehill finished its 2015-16 season with a 15-10 record overall, including a 10-2 mark in the Northeast-10, reaching the NE-10 championship match for the second straight year and seventh time in eight seasons and earning the program's tenth NCAA Tournament bid.
