Corvino earns first team All-NE10 honors, while Isner and Shannahan selected to third team

EASTON, Mass. (May 8, 2017) – Three members of the Stonehill College women's lacrosse program have earned All-Northeast-10 Conference honors as selected by the league's 14 head coaches the Conference announced.
Senior All-American Cara Corvino (Dorset, Vermont/Burr and Burton Academy) headlines Stonehill group of All-NE10 selections by earning first team honors for the first time in her career, while classmate Erika Isner (Farmington, Connecticut/Farmington) and junior Taylor Shannahan (Mendham, New Jersey/Morris Catholic) have both been named to the third team. Corvino earns All-NE10 honors for the third straight year, while Shannahan and Isner collect All-Conference recognition for the first time.
Corvino, who earned All-NE10 second team honors as a sophomore, collects first team accolades for the second straight year after spearheading a defensive unit which ranks third in the NE10 with a 9.17 team goals against average. She started all 19 games for Stonehill and totaled a team-high 37 caused turnovers (3rd NE10), with 37 ground balls, while adding a goal and assist for two points and 19 draw controls. The Skyhawks held ten of their 19 opponents under ten goals this season and she collected three or more caused turnovers five times.
Corvino, an IWLCA All-America second team selection last season, started 58 of her 75 career games played and totaled 131 ground balls, 87 caused turnovers and 61 draw controls over her four seasons. Her 37 caused turnovers this season rank fifth on the program's all-time single-season list. Corvino is a two-time IWLCA All-North Region selection and has been named to the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll four semesters and Athletic Director's Honor Roll once for her work in the classroom.
Isner, a co-captain for Stonehill along with Corvino, is another key member of the Skyhawks defensive unit which ranks third in the NE10 with a 9.17 team goals against average. She started all 19 games for the Skyhawks this spring and finished second on the team with 45 ground balls (8th NE10), while adding 20 caused turnovers and 13 draw controls, chipping in a goal and assist for two points. Isner collected a season-high four caused turnovers in a 15-5 win at Southern Connecticut State University on March 25, with a season-best seven ground balls, totaling three or more GBs in eight games.
Isner has started 37 of her 43 career games played, finishing her career with 77 ground balls, 30 caused turnovers and 19 ground balls. She has twice been named a Division II Athletic Director's Association Academic Achievement Award recipient and has earned NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll accolades every semester. Isner is a three-time recipient of the St. Thomas Aquinas, Patron Saint of Students, Medal for having the highest cumulative GPA on the team, is a member of Lambda Epsilon Sigma, Lambda Pi Eta and Psi Chi National Honor Societies.
Shannahan, a two-sport student-athlete at Stonehill who helped lead the women's soccer program to its first NE10 Championship in 22 years and its first NCAA Tournament bid in program history last fall, started all 19 games for the lacrosse program in the spring. She leads the NE10 with 66 ground balls – finishing just one shy of the program's single-season record set by Colby Confer '05 in 2003, while ranking second on the team with 24 caused turnovers (9th) and collecting 24 draw controls. Shannahan led the Skyhawks with 11 assists, while netting 22 goals to rank fourth on the team with 33 points. She recorded at least a point in 16 of Stonehill's 19 games this season, including five straight to wrap up the year, netting a career-high four goals against No. 6/13 NYIT on April 22.
Shannahan, who received the Stonehill Athletic Department's "Breakout Junior Award" at its recent Awards Night, has started 40 of her 55 career games played in three seasons and enters her senior year with 37 goals and 17 assists for 54 career points, adding 113 ground balls, 46 draws and 43 caused turnovers. She has been named to the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll four semesters for her work in the classroom. Shannahan started 20 of 22 games for the women's soccer team last fall, totaling a goal and three assists for five points. She earned NE10 All-Rookie Team status for soccer as a freshman.
Stonehill, ranked 16th in this week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II poll, wrapped up its season with a 12-7 record overall, including a 10-3 mark in the NE10. The Skyhawks reached the semifinal round of the NE10 Tournament for the 18th time in 19 years and are the lone program to appear in every NE10 women's lacrosse tournament.
