Dorset, Vermont, junior cards five-over-par round of 77 in first round to sit tied for 18th overall

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (October 18, 2021) – Junior Julia Dapron carded a five-over-par round of 77 to lead Stonehill College on day one of the 2021 Music City Invitational, hosted by Trevecca Nazarene University, on the 5,972-yard, par-72, layout at Old Fort Golf Club today.

The Details

  • Stonehill posted a season-low team score of 326 on Monday to sit 13th in the team standings after the first round. Christian Brothers University leads the team championship at the event with score of 300 on the first day to lead both Northwood (Mich.) University and the University of Southern Indiana by a single stroke (301). The Skyhawks lead fellow Northeast-10 Conference member Le Moyne College (342) by 16 shots heading into tomorrow's second rounds and is within ten strokes of the top ten in the team standings. NE10 Champions Franklin Pierce University is tied for fourth (305).
  • Franklin Pierce's Kesinee Prukmuthakul fired a six-under-par round of 66 on Monday to lead the individual medalist leaderboard by four strokes over Northwood's Sydni Harding and Southern Indiana's Kylee Hormuth who carded two-under-par rounds of 70 today.
  • Dapron, who started her day on the 14th hole, recorded a season-best three birdies on the front nine to shoot one-over-par on the front, finishing with nine pars for her career-low 77. She collected birdies on the 462-yard, par 5, second hole, the 312-yard, par 4, fourth and the 135-yard, par 3, eighth.
  • Senior captain Sloane Van Zanen follows Dapron with a nine-over-par 81 today. She birdied the 335-yard, par 4, ninth hole to highlight her round, which included nine pars, including seven on the back nine on her way to a +2 back after starting her day at the 12th hole.
  • Junior Emily Kase recorded a pair of birdies on her way to an opening round 82 to match her season-best and rank tied for 61st overall. She birdied the 153-yard, par 3, third hole and 484-yard, par 5, 14th.
  • Senior Emma Beaulieu added a round of 86 (T74th), while freshman Mollie Thomas followed with an 89 (T81st). Sophomores Emma Casey and Hannah Pignato rounded out the Skyhawks in the field with a 94 and 104, respectively, while competing as individuals.
  • Stonehill ranks second in the tournament after the first round for par 3 scoring, finishing a collecting +3 (3.15 avg) on the course's four par 3's, with Thomas leading the way at -1 on the four holes today.
  • Stonehill's seven birdies on the day rank seventh in the field, with Dapron ranking tied for third in par 4 scoring at even par (4.00) over those ten holes.
