Stonehill (16-8, 12-7 NE10), the defending NE10 Champions after posting an 80-61 triumph over Saint Anselm College at Merkert Gym in 2020 prior to the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown, has reached the NE10 Championship for the 13th time, and third time over the last four tournaments, with the Skyhawks seeking a seventh title, having won the championship in 1983, '87, '95, '97, 2008 and 2020. Stonehill is the lone NE10 member to compete in all 40 NE10 Women's Basketball Tournaments since the Conference began sponsoring the championship in 1982.

Bentley (18-8, 13-6 NE10) is making its NE10 record 30th appearance in the NE10 Championship game, having won the title a record 20 times, with its last coming at Stonehill's expense with a 73-72 overtime decision in 2018 in a game that was moved to Bryant University due to a power outage at Stonehill. The Falcons have made 39 appearances in the NE10 Tournament overall, posting an .832 winning percentage (89-18) in the event, with titles in 1982 (first in NE10 history), '84, '85, '90, '92, '93, '96, '98, '99, 2000, '01, '03, '05, '11, '12, '13, '14, '16 and '18.

Sunday afternoon will mark the 115th meeting all-time between these two NE10 rivals, the 28th in postseason play and 16th in the NE10 Tournament, squaring off with an NE10 Championship on the line for the eighth time. Bentley holds a 74-40 advantage in the all-time series after the two split the regular season series, each winning on the other's home court. The Falcons are 19-8 all-time against Stonehill in postseason play, with a 10-5 edge in the NE10 Tournament and 5-2 mark in championship games.
