Miccile's 18 points leads balanced Panthers effort to win

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (December 12, 2021) – Adelphi University held off Stonehill College down the stretch to claim an 82-75 victory in a non-conference women's basketball matchup between fellow Northeast-10 Conference members at the Center for Recreation and Sport this afternoon.

How it Happened


  • Bramanti matched her career-best with 26 points and also collected a career-high eight rebounds (PHOTO BY Mary Gettens)
    Adelphi led by as much as 12 points (28-16) with 6:14 remaining in the second quarter, after opening the frame with a 9-2 run capped by a three-pointer from senior Jillian Licurgo.
  • Stonehill responded with a 13-0 run keyed by a trio of three-pointers from Bramanti, Kelly and senior Isabella Santoro to grab the Skyhawks first lead (29-28) after a Kelly jumper with 2:49 left in the half.
  • Adelphi regained the lead heading into the intermission (35-33) with a buzzer-beating three-pointer by Hawkins and then scored the first six points of the third quarter to restore an eight-point cushion (41-33) after a Lee layup two minutes in.
  • Stonehill was back within four (53-49) heading into the fourth quarter and drew within two (57-55) after a Bramanti triple with 7:19 still to play.
  • Stonehill trimmed the lead to a point three times midway through the final frame, but couldn't regain the lead.
  • Adelphi pushed its lead back to six (68-62) after a three-point play from Miccile with 3:41 remaining, when Stonehill closed back within two (68-66) after a basket from Raymond with 2:30 to go.
  • Two Raymond free-throws had Stonehill down a pair (70-68) with 1:46 to play, but Rosenoff drained a three-pointer to push the lead to five and the Skyhawks wouldn't get back within a possession the rest of the way.

Noteworthy

  • Bramanti matched her career-high with 26 points (19 second half) established in Stonehill's season-opener at Saint Michael's College, scoring 20-plus points for the second-straight game and third time this season overall, having now scored in double figures all six games this season (19 career).
  • Bramanti's eight rebounds are a career-best.
  • Glidden's first career double-double is also the first by a Stonehill player this season, scoring a career-high 16 points to go with a season-best 11 rebounds – two shy of her career-best.
  • Raymond has reached double figures in all five of her games played this season and 11-straight games overall dating back to the 2019-20 season. She has scored in double figures in 44 of her 52 career games played.
  • Kelly's career-high 11 points are her second double-figure scoring game of the season, surpassing her ten-point outing in the Skyhawks season-opener at Saint Michael's.
  • Adelphi finished shooting 47-percent from the field for the contest, including 44.1% in the second half.
  • Stonehill finished with a 50-35 rebounding advantage for the contest, pulling down 24 boards on the offensive glass.

Stonehill (2-4, 1-3 NE10) returns to action on Wednesday night, when it visits Franklin Pierce University for an NE10 matchup at 5:30 p.m. The Skyhawks return home next Saturday, December 18, to host Queens (N.Y.) College for its first semester finale at 4 p.m. The Stonehill athletic department will continue its Holiday Toy Drive to benefit My Brother's Keeper, with any fan bringing an unwrapped, packaged toy earning free admission to the game.
