Raymond Earns Second NE10 Player of the Week Award

EASTON, Mass. (January 18, 2022) – Stonehill College senior forward Kayla Raymond has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week for women's basketball the league office announced on Monday.

Raymond earns the weekly award for the second time in her career after averaging a double-double with 24.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week for Stonehill. She made 47.5-percent (19-for-40) of her shots from the floor, including 4-for-8 (50%) from three-point distance, while chipping in with 2.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocked shots per game for the week.

Raymond opened the week with her first double-double of the season posting 16 points on 7-of-17 shooting and 11 rebounds in Tuesday's 62-51 win over Adelphi University, adding three assists, a blocked shot and steal. She followed that up with another double-double in Saturday's 64-61 win at the University of New Haven, scoring a career-high matching 32 points on 12-of-23 shooting (3-for-6 from three), converting 5-of-7 free-throws, to go with a season-best 13 rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks.

Raymond has started eight of her ten games played so far this season and is second on the team in scoring with 16.9 points per game (5th NE10) and rebounding with 6.8 per game (11th), to go with 1.9 assists, 1.6 blocked shots (6th) and 1.3 steals in 28.0 minutes per game. She is shooting 38-percent from the floor (62-for-163) and converting 83.3% (25-for-30) of her free-throws (8th) for the season. Raymond has posted the two double-doubles, scoring in double-figures in nine games with back-to-back 20-point games after adding a game-high 26 against Southern New Hampshire University on Monday.

Raymond, a two-time All-NE10 selection after earning first team honors as a sophomore in 2019-20 when she was also a WBCA Division II Honorable Mention All-American, has started 50 of her 57 career games played and totaled 937 points, 385 rebounds and 92 blocked shots for her career. The 2019 NE10 Rookie of the Year and Division II Bulletin All-Rookie Team honoree is averaging 16.4 points on 44.4-percent shooting, including 33.7% from three-point distance, converting 82.8% of her free-throws, with 6.8 rebounds, 1.6. assists and 1.6 blocked shots over her career. She has scored in double-figures in 48 of her 57 career games played with six double-doubles, including 20-plus points 16 times and three 30-point games, including her season-high 32 at New Haven on Saturday that matched her career-best set at Merrimack College on February 10, 2019.

Raymond was named Most Outstanding Player of the 2020 NE10 Championship and earned All-Tournament team honors at the 2019 NCAA Division II East Regional. She was a D2CCA All-East Region second team performer in 2019-20 and earned NE10 Rookie of the Week accolades nine times as a freshman. Raymond has also been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll.

Stonehill (5-6, 4-5 NE10), receiving votes in this week's D2SIDA East Region poll, returns to action on Wednesday, when it visits Pace University, ranked No. 4 in the region, for an NE10 matchup at 5:30 p.m. The Skyhawks return to Merkert Gym on Saturday to host Southern Connecticut State University at 1:30 p.m.
