Raymond and Glidden fuel Skyhawks to sixth win over last seven

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (February 14, 2022) – Stonehill College, ranked No. 9 in this week's D2SIDA East Region poll, closed out a run of three road games in five days with a 60-51 victory over American International College in Northeast-10 Conference women's basketball action on Paula Sullivan Court at Merkert Gymnasium this evening.

How it Happened

  Stonehill made its first six shots of the game, including three-pointers from Raymond and Santoro, on its way to a 14-0 lead midway through the first quarter.
• Raymond led the opening burst with five points, before the Skyhawks opening run extended to 16-0 after a layup from junior Jesse Semeniak with 4:17 left in the opening frame.
• Stonehill scored 16 of the 18 points in the first quarter overall as American International made just 1-of-13 shots, missing all seven three-point attempts, to carry a 14-point lead into the second.
• Stonehill stretched its lead to 18 (30-12) heading into halftime, with Raymond finishing the opening half with ten points and eight rebounds.
• AIC showed it wouldn't go down quietly, pulling within ten (32-22) after a Perry three-pointer less than five minutes into the third quarter.
• Stonehill held there and reclaimed a 16-point cushion (45-29) heading to the fourth, with Glidden scoring six of her ten second half points in the quarter.
• The Yellow Jackets scored the first eight points of the fourth to quickly pull within eight (45-37) just 2:30 into the frame after back-to-back three-pointers from Willis and Perry.
• That sparked a 12-2 AIC run overall that saw the Yellow Jackets trim the deficit to six (47-41) after a pull up jumper from Perry at the halfway point of the fourth.
• Stonehill regained its double-digit lead (51-41) after two Glidden free-throws with 3:49 remaining, but the AIC push continued with the next eight points, including four by sophomore Julia Carbonell Munoz, to pull all the way back to within two (51-49) with 69-seconds on the clock.
• Stonehill held there, answering with a three-pointer from junior Mia Kelly, off a Glidden offensive rebound, as the Skyhawks went on the score nine of the game's last 11 points, converting all six free-throws in the closing 19-seconds to seal the win.

• Raymond was Stonehill's leading scorer for the fifth-straight game played and ninth time this season overall, scoring in double-figures for the tenth-straight game and 15^th time this season overall (53^rd career).
• Raymond moved into a tie for 29^th place on Stonehill's career scoring list with Stonehill Hall of Famer Becky Barrett, '99, having scored 1,067 points in 63 career games played.
• Raymond, who posted her 100^th career block at Assumption University on Saturday, added her 102^nd tonight to rank eighth in program history.
• Glidden reached double-figures for the seventh time this season (eighth career) and fourth in the last six games.
• Stonehill improved to 26-5 over her career when Raymond is its leading rebounder (4-1 this winter).
• Stonehill logged assists on 18 of its 21 field goals in the contest.
• Both teams made 12-of-14 (85.7%) of their free-throws in the game.
• Stonehill has won six of its last seven and eight of ten games over the last month.
• Today's game continues a February stretch for Stonehill that will see it play nine games over the final three weeks of the regular season. The Skyhawks are not scheduled to have more than two days off (just one remaining) between games over the next 15 days.
