NE10 Announces Men's Soccer Postseason Awards

EASTON, Mass. (November 10, 2021) – Two members of the Stonehill College men's soccer program have collected postseason accolades from the Northeast-10 Conference, as selected by the Conference's 13 head coaches, the league announced.

Junior goalkeeper Andrew Hammersley and freshman forward Iago Luiz De Sousa-Vieira were both selected to the All-NE10 third team, while De Sousa-Vieira was also named to the NE10 All-Rookie Team. The pair give Stonehill 69 All-NE10 selections all-time, marking the first time multiple Skyhawks have been picked for All-Conference since 2015. It marks the third-straight season Stonehill has had an NE10 All-Rookie selection, with De Sousa-Vieira joining Hammersley and senior back Eben Degbor as the 14th selection since the All-Rookie Team started in 2008.

Hammersley, an NE10 All-Rookie Team selection as a freshman in 2019, earns All-NE10 honors for the first time with his third team honor. The NE10 leader in saves with 99 this fall, started and played 16 of Stonehill's 17 matches this season, posting a 1.81 goals against average and .773 save percentage, while averaging 5.8 saves per match, in 1,443:46 played with two shutouts, including a five save effort in the Skyhawks 1-0 double-overtime triumph against then No. 1-ranked Franklin Pierce University on October 23. Hammersley posted six-plus saves in nine matches, with double-digit saves in three contests. He notched a career-high 12 saves at Assumption University on September 18.

Hammersley has started 30 of the 31 matches he has played over his two seasons at Stonehill, posting a 1.76 goals against average and .794 save percentage, with 204 saves (6.6 per match) in 2,712:05. He earned NE10 Goalkeeper of the Week honors for the first time in his career on October 25 and has recorded double-digit saves in five matches and five plus saves in 20 matches.

De Sousa-Vieira is Stonehill's first freshman to earn All-NE10 honors since 1991 NE10 Rookie of the Year Jon Bruno, '95 was a second team selection. De Sousa-Vieira earns All-NE10 third team and NE10 All-Rookie Team accolades after ranking ninth among NE10 scoring leaders with his team-high 18 points and sixth in goals with his team-best nine. He played all 17 matches for Stonehill as a freshman, starting 15, with two of his goals game-winners, recording multiple goals in back-to-back wins over Dominican (N.Y.) College and Nyack College on September 4 and 8, with a pair in each win.

Stonehill finished the 2021 season with a 6-10-1 record overall, including 3-8-1 in the NE10 to finish in a four way tie for ninth in the NE10 standings. The Skyhawks season featured its first win in program history against a team ranked No. 1 in the country with its 1-0 double-overtime triumph against Franklin Pierce at Skyhawk Field on October 23.
