GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (October 9, 2021) - It took extra time, but Adelphi University, ranked No. 8 in this week's United Soccer Coaches Association Division II East Region rankings, edged Stonehill College 1-0 in Northeast-10 Conference men's soccer action at Motamed Field this evening.

The Details

  • Junior Andrew Hammersley shined again in goal for Stonehill, facing 21 shots, but making 11 saves to keep the match scoreless through regulation.
  • Hammersley's 11 saves are the second-most this season (12, at Assumption, Sept. 18) and the fourth time he has made 10-plus saves in his career
  • Junior Daniel De Las Heras finished with three saves in the Adelphi goal for his first shutout of the season.
  • Stonehill's best chance came over a five-minute span starting in the 65th minute of action when senior Luke Fuller fired a shot to the bottom right corner of the goal where De Las Heras made a save.
