Coholan collects second NE-10 Defensive Player of the Week award this season

EASTON, Mass. (November 18, 2014) – The Stonehill College field hockey defensive duo of senior goalkeeper Elizabeth Genovese (Street, Maryland/North Harford) and senior back Emily Coholan (South Dennis, Massachusetts/Dennis-Yarmouth) have both earned weekly honors from the Northeast-10 Conference this week.
Genovese has been named the Northeast-10's Goalkeeper of the Week for the first time this season (fourth career), while Coholan collects NE-10 Defensive Player of the Week accolades for the second time this season. The duo were part of a staunch defensive effort for Stonehill which yielded just one goal in two must-win games to clinch the No. 2 seed and first round bye for this week's Northeast-10 Tournament.

Genovese posted a 0.50 goals against average and .950 save percentage as she stopped 19 of the 20 shots on goal she faced over 141:15 in Stonehill's two wins. She registered 11 saves to preserve her fourth shutout of the season and a 1-0 win at 9th-ranked Assumption College in Saturday's regular season finale that clinched the No. 2 seed for this week's NE-10 Tournament. Genovese opened the week with an eight save effort in Wednesday's 2-1 overtime triumph at Merrimack College.
Genovese has started all 18 games in the Stonehill cage this season and posted a 1.69 goals against average and .756 save percentage with five saves per game (19th nationally) and four shutouts in 1,204:13. Her four 90 saves this season rank ninth on the program's single-season list and she leads the NE-10 in wins and shutouts, while ranking fourth in the NE-10 for goals against average (10th nationally) and seventh for save percentage (16th).

Genovese has started 62 of 68 career games played in goal for Stonehill and posted a 1.98 GAA and .722 save percentage with 4.8 saves per game and seven shutouts in 4,408:23 and a career record of 44-21. Her 324 career saves rank third in program history and she is one of just three goalkeepers in program history with 300 or more career saves. Genovese has earned NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll status five semesters and Athletic Director's Honor Roll one semester.
Coholan led Stonehill's backline which yielded just the one goal by allowing six penalty corners and ten shots on goal per game in the Skyhawks two wins last week. The Skyhawks posted their fifth shutout of the season in their 1-0 win over Assumption on Saturday. Coholan has started all 15 games for Stonehill this season and led a defense which ranks fifth in the NE-10 with a 1.76 team goals against average (11th nationally), ranking second in the NE-10 for shutouts (7th nationally) and scoring margin (4th nationally) at +1.87 per game. She has chipped in with two defensive saves for the Skyhawks.
Coholan has played 54 games over her three seasons at Stonehill since transferring from Providence College. She has totaled four defensive saves on the Skyhawks backline and chipped in with a goal and two assists for four points over her Stonehill career. Coholan has been named to the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll two semesters.
Stonehill (15-3, 9-2 NE-10), ranked fifth in last week's Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II poll and first in the most recent NCAA Division II North Regional rankings, is back in action on Thursday when it hosts third-seeded Adelphi University for a Northeast-10 semifinal round matchup at W.B. Mason Stadium at 4 p.m.
