63-percent of Skyhawk student-athletes recognized for posting GPA of 3.0 or higher
Complete Stonehill College Northeast-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll members
EASTON, Mass. (July 1, 2015) – A total of 275 Stonehill College student-athletes have been named to the Northeast-10 Conference Spring 2015 Commissioner’s Honor Roll for earning a grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the spring semester. The 275 Skyhawks are among 3,424 student-athletes from the NE-10’s 16 members named to the spring honor roll.
Stonehill’s 275 honorees for the spring semester is one of the top five highest totals in the Northeast-10. Stonehill was also among seven schools in the Conference to have at least 60-percent of its student-athletes named to the honor roll, as 63% of the Skyhawks were recognized.
Nine Stonehill student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average during the spring semester, highlighted by senior Christina Russo (Winthrop, Massachusetts/Winthrop), junior Trisha Pierson (East Hanover, New Jersey/Hanover Park) and freshman Paige Campbell (Lexington, Massachusetts/Lexington) of the women’s track & field program, senior Christian Baglini (Milford, Connecticut/Notre Dame) from the baseball team, junior Emily Padilla (Wappingers Falls, New York/Roy C. Ketham) of the softball team and freshman Colleen O’Donnell (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) from the women’s tennis team who all accomplished 4.0 GPAs while competing in season.
Seniors Alexandra Losi (Wallingford, Connecticut/Mark T. Sheehan) and Maddie Manning (Weymouth, Massachusetts/Weymouth) from the women’s soccer program and junior Craig Moreau (Gray, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) of the men’s soccer team rounded out Stonehill’s 4.0 students for the semester.

Stonehill’s Northeast-10 champion women’s basketball program had 93-percent (13 of 14) of its student-athletes named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the highest percentage among the College’s 19 NE-10 programs. The NE-10 champion women’s tennis program (11 of 13) as well as the women’s soccer team (23 of 27) each checked in with 85% of their student-athletes on the honor roll, while the football program boasted the highest number of student-athletes with 56 honor roll members.
Also included on this semester’s NE-10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll were all three All-Americans from the Stonehill women’s lacrosse program in seniors Lizzie Lane (Sandwich, Massachusetts/Bishop Stang) and Ashley Armstrong (Northborough, Massachusetts/Algonquin Regional) as well as freshman Kelly Healey (Westwood, Massachusetts/Westwood). Senior captain Dan Fratus (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North), a Willingham Award semifinalist and All-East Region performer from the baseball program and senior All-Americans Maria Curit (Biddeford, Maine/Biddeford) and Nick Staley (Medway, Massachusetts/BC High) from the track & field program.
With 20 intercollegiate sports, Stonehill boasts one of the top athletic and academic programs in the country. In addition to winning its fifth Northeast-10 Presidents' Cup following the 2014-15 academic year, the Skyhawks have received the NCAA Division II Presidents' Award for Academic Achievement each of the first three years of the program's existence of honoring institutions with an Academic Success Rate (ASR) of 90-percent or better. Stonehill has earned a 96% Academic Success Ranking (ASR) by the NCAA, which considers the academic success rate of the institution based on the graduation rate of student-athletes, good for eighth among all NCAA Division II institutions, with 12 Skyhawk teams receiving a perfect rating of 100%. In addition, the Skyhawks are ranked third in the National Collegiate Scouting Association (NCSA) Power Rankings for Division II used to assess the academic and athletic standards of all NCAA and NAIA athletic programs. Stonehill has also been selected as the host of the 2016 NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championships at W.B. Mason Stadium.
