Skyhawk freshmen honored with spot on national team
Foley earns the national recognition after earning Rookie of the Year honors in the Northeast-10 Conference, marking the second-straight year and fourth time overall a Stonehill freshman has earned the award. She also collected All-Northeast-10 second team and All-Rookie team honors after posting nine goals and four assists for 22 points in her first collegiate season. She netted a team-best four game winning goals (4th NE-10).
In ten NE-10 matches, Foley registered five goals (two game winners) and an assist for 11 points. She was named the NE-10 Rookie of the Week three times this fall, collecting national Rookie of the Week accolades from womensfieldhockey.com once. Foley was also the lone freshman to earn All-NE-10 honors this season.
Genovese started 12 of the 15 games she played in goal for Stonehill during her first collegiate season. She played 900:03 in the Skyhawks cage and posted a 2.26 goals against average and .685 save percentage, while averaging 4.2 saves with one shutout. Genovese was named the NE-10 Goaltender of the Week once and ranked sixth in the Conference with six wins (6-6) and seventh for goals against average.
Genovese started all nine games played in NE-10 play this fall, posting a 2.50 GAA and .661 save percentage while averaging 4.6 saves with one shutout in 588:56. She posted her first career shutout with a five save performance against Assumption College on October 8.
Stonehill finished its season with a 10-10 record overall, including a 4-6 mark in Northeast-10 play. The Skyhawks reached the NE-10 Tournament for the 14th season, advancing to the semifinal round for the fourth straight year.
