Foley Named NE-10 Rookie of the Week

Holden, Mass., native earns first weekly honor after three point week

EASTON, Mass. (September 14, 2011) – Stonehill College freshman forward Jennifer Foley (Holden, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week for field hockey by the league office.

Foley earns the first weekly honor of her career after helping guide Stonehill to a 2-1 week with a goal and assist for three points. She netted her first collegiate goal in overtime to lift the Skyhawks to a 3-2 victory at Saint Anselm College on Thursday. Foley collected her first career point when she assisted on Stonehill's second goal in a 3-0 win over American International College on Tuesday.

Foley has started all six matches in her freshman season for Stonehill and is second on the team with seven points, netting a team-high matching three goals (7th NE-10) to go with an assist. A Northeast-10 leading two of her three goals are gamewinners.

Stonehill (3-3, 0-0 NE-10) is back in action on Saturday when it opens its Northeast-10 Conference schedule by hosting rival Bentley University at W.B. Mason Stadium at noon.
